We aimed at showing that children are able to identify and draw a line of best fit through a cloud of points according to the concept of linear regression. A sample of 72 children in third and fourth primary school grades were given two different tasks. In a first task, 10 different sheets with three illustrations of the same scatterplot with different lines of regression to choose from were presented.

Near-zone Förster resonant energy transfer is the main effect responsible for excitation energy flow in the optical region and is frequently used to obtain structural information. In the hard X-ray region, the Förster law is inadequate because the wavelength is generally shorter than the distance between donors and acceptors; hence, far-zone resonant energy transfer (FZRET) becomes dominant. We demonstrate the characteristics of X-ray FZRET and its fundamental differences with the ordinary near-zone resonant energy-transfer process in the optical region by recording and analyzing two qualitatively different systems: high-density CuO polycrystalline powder and SF diluted gas.

Background: The symptoms and functional limitations due to obstructive lung disease (OLD) are the direct results of airway and lung parenchymal destruction. In these conditions, airflow obstruction leads to increased work of breathing, and gas exchange abnormalities. Hyperinflation, which is inferred from a standard chest radiograph (CXR), may imply increased total lung capacity that can be seen in patients with OLD.

We present an accurate and reliable method for localizing a mammographic lesion by ultrasound using a simple coordinate system. It does not require special grid equipment or additional personnel. We use our system, step-by-step, on a sample patient and include appropriate image documentation.

Two of them viewed "imperial madness" as ordinary forms of insanity which became excessive only due to reactions of the social environment.
