The intensity of lipid peroxidation (LPO) was studied by the content of the listed below in erythrocytes of children with neurological pathology: diene conjugates, trienketones and LPO products. Intensified LPO processes were registered in children with neurology and primarily in those with cerebral spastic infantile paralysis (CSIP). The detected changes in the LPO products of erythrocyte membranes depended on a disease variation on an intellectual development of sick child. The LPO activation affects possibly the development (lesion) of craniocerebral innervation in patients. Changed LPO parameters were found in examined sick children to be most closely related with the development of their motor skills and with the formation of the bone-muscle system, thus, an essentially higher content of LPO products was registered in erythrocytes of children with a reduced muscular activity (in those not capable of sitting, standing or walking). Considering the above stated and with respect to the deficit of Vitamin E registered in such patients, children with CSIP or with impending CSIP need, obviously a prolonged membrane-stabilizing therapy by antioxidants and essential phospholipids including traps of radicals, which should cut the number of children with severe CSIP and with residual perinatal lesions of the central nervous system.

Paraquat (PQ) is a widely used herbicide; however, it has been linked to various diseases, including an increased risk of developing Parkinsonism. To study this, invertebrates such as ascidians have been used. They have a simple nervous system and are considered an emerging model for the study of neurodegenerative diseases.

Renal dysfunction due to ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) is a common problem after kidney transplantation. In recent years, studies on animal models have shown that exosomes derived from mesenchymal stem cells (MSC-Exo) play an important role in treating acute kidney injury (AKI) and promoting tissue repair. The microneedle patch provides a noninvasive and targeted delivery system for exosomes.

A novel molecular design based on a quinazolinone scaffold was developed the attachment of aryl alkanesulfonates to the quinazolinone core through a thioacetohydrazide azomethine linker, leading to a new series of quinazolinone-alkanesulfonates 5a-r. The antimicrobial properties of the newly synthesized quinazolinone derivatives 5a-r were investigated to examine their bactericidal and fungicidal activities against bacterial pathogens like , (Gram-positive), , , (Gram-negative), in addition to (unicellular fungal). The tested compounds demonstrated reasonable bactericidal activities compared to standard drugs.

Maximal Intensity Exercise Induces Adipokine Secretion and Disrupts Prooxidant-Antioxidant Balance in Young Men with Different Body Composition.

Department of Sports Medicine and Human Nutrition, Institute of Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, University of Physical Education in Kraków, 31-571 Kraków, Poland.

Maximal physical effort induces a disturbance in the body's energy homeostasis and causes oxidative stress. The aim of the study was to determine whether prooxidant-antioxidant balance disturbances and the secretion of adipokines regulating metabolism, induced by maximal intensity exercise, are dependent on body composition in young, healthy, non-obese individuals. We determined changes in the concentration of advanced protein oxidation products (AOPP), markers of oxidative damage to nucleic acids (DNA/RNA/ox), and lipid peroxidation (LPO); catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) activity, as well as concentrations of visfatin, leptin, resistin, adiponectin, asprosin, and irisin in the blood before and after maximal intensity exercise in men with above-average muscle mass (NFAT-HLBM), above-average fat mass (HFAT-NLBM), and with average body composition (NFAT-NLBM).

Hijacking the hyaluronan assisted iron endocytosis to promote the ferroptosis in anticancer photodynamic therapy.

State Key Laboratory of Complex Severe and Rare Diseases, Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College, Beijing 100005, PR China. Electronic address:

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) eradicates tumor cells by the light-stimulated reactive oxygen species, which also induces lipid peroxidation (LPO) and subsequently ferroptosis, an iron-depended cell death. Ferroptosis has a tremendous therapeutic potential in cancer treatment, however, the ferroptosis efficiency is largely limited by the available iron in cells. Through hijacking the CD44-mediated iron endocytosis of hyaluronan (HA), here PDT with enhanced ferroptosis was realized by a HA@Ce6 nanogel self-assembled from HA, a photosensitizer Chlorin e6 (Ce6) and Fe as cross-linkers.
