Influence of polishing methods on water sorption and solubility of denture base acrylic resins was studied. Eighty samples were divided into groups: Classico (CL), and QC 20 (QC) - hot water bath cured; Acron MC (AC), and Onda Cryl (ON) - microwave cured; and submitted to mechanical polishing (MP) - pumice slurry, chalk powder, soft brush and felt cone in a bench vise; or chemical polishing (CP) - heated monomer fluid in a chemical polisher. The first desiccation process was followed by storage in distilled water at 37 +/- 1 degrees C for 1 h, 1 day, 1, 2, 3 and 4 weeks. Concluding each period, water sorption was measured. After the fourth week, a second desiccation process was done to calculate solubility. Data were submitted to analysis of variance, followed by Tukey test (p

Limestone mining waste and its derived CaO were checked as an adsorbents of pb, Cu, and Cd ions from water solution. The characterization of Limestone and calcined limestone was studied by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), and Surface area measurements (BET). The optimum conditions of sorbent dosage, pH, initial concentration, and contact time factors were investigated for pristine limestone and calcined limestone absorbents.

The morphology of wheat starch granules with different damaged starch (DS) content was analyzed using a particle size analyzer and scanning electron microscopy (SEM); the granular structure was studied using FT-IR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction (XRD); and the granule-water interaction was evaluated by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and dynamic vapor sorption (DVS). The increase in the level of DS shifted the population of B-type granules towards larger particle diameters and shifted the population of A-type granules towards smaller particle diameters. The appearance of the surface of the starch-damaged granules was rough and flaky (SEM images).

This review presents a comprehensive review of cellulose-chitosan-based biocomposites that have high potential as sustainable alternatives to synthetic polymers. These biocomposites, due to biocompatibility, biodegradability, and antimicrobial properties, attract attention for wide application in various industries. This review includes modern methods for producing cellulose-chitosan composites aimed at improving their mechanical and chemical properties, such as strength, flexibility, and water resistance.

The transfer of radionuclides discharged into rivers by nuclear facilities are conditioned by their solid/liquid fractionation, commonly represented by an equilibrium approach using the distribution coefficient K. This coefficient, largely used in modeling, assumes an instantaneous and completely reversible reaction. However, such assumptions are rarely verified.

Aim: This study aimed to assess if the addition of origanum oil to denture materials could decrease microorganisms counts and biofilm formation without changing their mechanical/surface properties.
Materials And Methods: A total of 66 resilient denture liner discs (SoftConfort, Dencril Comércio de Plásticos Ltda, SP, Brazil) were prepared with fixed dimensions of 10 × 3 mm for biofilm assay ( = 36) and 12 × 2 mm for sorption-solubility tests ( = 30) containing three oil concentrations - 0, 2.5 and 5%, thereby = 12 per each group samples for biofilm assay and = 10 per each group for sorption-solubility test respectively.
