Patients with chronic kidney disease have a high incidence of cardiovascular diseases, and autonomic dysfunction has a determinant role in the relevant declines. Physical exercise influences heart rate variability and cardiac autonomic modulation. Thus, our objective was to systematically review, with a meta-analysis, the correlation between physical exercise interventions and alterations in cardiac autonomic modulation in hemodialysis patients.

Introduction: Older patients with cancer (65 years and older) are a growing population with unique nutrition-and treatment-related issues that accelerate aging. Nutrition interventions attenuate nutritional decline, muscle loss, and risk of malnutrition and sarcopenia in patients with cancer, however the evidence for older patients with cancer is limited. The aim of this systematic review was to evaluate the efficacy of nutrition interventions on nutritional status, body weight/composition and clinical outcomes in older patients with cancer and to identify future research priority areas.

Background: To contribute to the refinement of future physical activity (PA) guidelines, which have remained mostly generic until now, we performed an umbrella review of meta-analyses for PA in cancer survivors.
Methods: Medline and Scopus databases were searched in January 2024 for systematic reviews and meta-analyses on the association/effect of any type of PA in every cancer type and for any studied outcome. Statistically significant meta-analyses were categorized into four evidence groups (strong, highly suggestive, suggestive, weak) using pre-established grading criteria.

Frequent changes in altitude and oxygen levels limit the practical application of traditionally derived exercise thresholds or training zones based on heart rate (HR) or blood lactate concentration (bLa). We investigated the transferability of a muscle oxygenation (SmO)-based intensity prescription between different hypoxic conditions to assess the suitability of real-time SmO measurements for ski-mountaineering (SKIMO) athletes during submaximal endurance exercise. A group of 15 well-trained male SKIMO athletes performed a graded-intensity run test in normoxia (87 m ASL, FiO = 20.
