Objective: To evaluate the long-term results of repair of burn hands with large sheet of split-thickness autoskin grafting with the preservation of denatured dermis.
Methods: One hundred and fifty-two hands in 86 burn patients with deep partial thickness and full thickness burn were enrolled in the study. The burned hands were treated by tangential excision and grafted with large sheet of split-thickness autoskin with the preservation of denatured dermis. The patients were followed-up from 3 months to 3 years. The skin color, elasticity, degree of contracture and the functional grading of the operated hands were observed.
Results: Good function was found in one hundred and forty-one out of the 152 burn hands (92.8%). For the rest 11 hands, pigmentation was found in 4, poor appearance in 4, and 3 hands with both poor appearance and function.
Conclusion: Large sheet of split-thickness autoskin grafting with the preservation of denatured dermis could be an optimal choice for the management of hands with deep partial thickness burn, and it could restore the appearance and function of the hands satisfactorily.

Colloidal properties of nanoparticles are intricately linked to their morphology. Traditionally, achieving high-concentration dispersions of two-dimensional (2D) nanosheets has proven challenging as they tend to agglomerate or re-stack under increased surface contact and Van der Waals attraction. Here, we unveil an excluded volume effect enabled by 2D morphology, which can be coupled with electrostatic repulsion to synthesize high-concentration aqueous graphene dispersions.

Unlabelled: As observed by the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) and GRACE Follow On (GRACE-FO) missions, global terrestrial water storage (TWS), excluding ice sheets and glaciers, declined rapidly between May 2014 and March 2016. By 2023, it had not yet recovered, with the upper end of its range remaining 1 cm equivalent height of water below the upper end of the earlier range. Beginning with a record-setting drought in northeastern South America, a series of droughts on five continents helped to prevent global TWS from rebounding.

Background: Hemodynamically unstable pelvic ring fractures from high-energy trauma are critical injuries in trauma care, requiring urgent intervention and precise diagnostics. With ongoing advancements in trauma management, treatment strategies have evolved, with some techniques becoming obsolete as new ones emerge. This study aimed to evaluate changes and trends in treatment algorithms for these injuries over approximately 40 years.

Emerging two-dimensional MXenes have been extensively studied in a wide range of fields thanks to their superior electrical and hydrophilic attributes as well as excellent chemical stability and mechanical flexibility. Among them, the ultrahigh electrical conductivity (σ) and tunable band structures of benchmark TiCT MXene demonstrate its good potential as thermoelectric (TE) materials. However, both the large variation of σ reported in the literature and the intrinsically low Seebeck coefficient (S) hinder the practical applications.

Graphene-based materials have gained attention for their promise in various applications owing to their two-dimensional structure. Functionalizing the graphene surface can help realize materials with noble properties. In this study, graphene was functionalized by plasma treatment in O, H, and Ar environments, and the effects on the NH gas-sensing performance were evaluated.
