The invention of organic light emitting diodes (LEDs) led to enormous excitement in both academe and industry in the late 1980's. Flexibility, large area solution processability, roll-to-roll printing, low cost, and environmentally friendly are some of the advantages of organic semiconductor materials, which brought a new horizon for optoelectronics. Together with the achievement of organic solar cells, transistors, lasers, and amplifiers, this has demonstrated potential applications of organic semiconductors in displays, lighting, solar energy generation, electronics, sensing and imaging, and many aspects of photonics.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFSpatiotemporal optical vortex (STOV) pulses, possessing inherent transverse orbital angular momentum (OAM) and exhibiting phase singularity and intensity null in the spatiotemporal (ST) domain, have received increasing attention in recent years. Here, we investigate theoretically the third harmonic generation and evolution properties of STOV pulses via the interaction of 800-nm-STOV pulses with air-plasma filaments. We show that beautiful third harmonic STOV pulses are generated at a propagation distance of several millimeters.

In 2016, the news that Google's artificial intelligence (AI) robot AlphaGo, based on the principle of deep learning, won the victory over lee Sedol, the former world Go champion and the famous 9th Dan competitor of Korea, caused a sensation in both fields of AI and Go, which brought epoch-making significance to the development of deep learning. Deep learning is a complex machine learning algorithm that uses multiple layers of artificial neural networks to automatically analyze signals or data. At present, deep learning has penetrated into our daily life, such as the applications of face recognition and speech recognition.
