Background And Objective: To determine ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) features of iris and ciliary body melanomas before and after brachytherapy.
Patients And Methods: Four uveal anterior melanoma cases undergoing brachytherapy were retrospectively studied. All cases were examined by UBM prior to treatment and repeatedly after treatment.
Results: Before brachytherapy, UBM examination showed a solid mass in the iris, ciliary body, or both in all four cases and allowed its characterization, sizing, and positioning. Two cases had a pigmented scleral lesion corresponding to the tumor location, but UBM did not detect any scleral infiltration at those sites. After brachytherapy, all lesions showed progressive decrease in size and progressive attenuation of their limits. Internal reflectivity was variable. Complications related to brachytherapy were demonstrated, including cataract, peripheral anterior synechiae at tumor location, and secondary scleral thinning.
Conclusion: UBM played an important role as a complementary diagnostic method for anterior uveal melanomas, particularly ciliary body melanomas, but also allowed therapeutic planning (brachytherapy or surgery) and follow-up after treatment.

Here, we describe a rare case of drug-induced unilateral ciliary body effusion precipitated by topical brinzolamide, presenting acutely with pain, angle closure and myopic shift.Ciliary body effusion was suspected clinically and confirmed by ultrasound biomicroscopy. Brinzolamide was ceased, atropine instilled and the ciliary body effusion promptly resolved without need for further treatment.

Objective: Ciliary body medulloepithelioma (CBME), a pediatric intraocular tumor with potential for locally aggressive behavior and metastasis, may present with a diverse spectrum of clinical and histopathologic features leading to diagnostic and management challenges. Examination of unusual CBME cases highlights challenges and modern diagnostic techniques which facilitate accurate diagnosis and guide management.
Methods: A retrospective clinicopathologic analysis of 6 patients with unusual clinical or pathologic features of CBME was performed.

Anterior segment dysgenesis exerts its influence on a diverse array of ocular structures, encompassing the cornea, iris, ciliary body, anterior chamber and lens. We present a 20-month-old boy with bilateral corneal opacity. The visual acuity (VA) was 6/480 in both eyes.

Cilia assembly and function rely on the bidirectional transport of components between the cell body and ciliary tip via Intraflagellar Transport (IFT) trains. Anterograde and retrograde IFT trains travel along the B- and A-tubules of microtubule doublets, respectively, ensuring smooth traffic flow. However, the mechanism underlying this segregation remains unclear.

Pseudoexfoliation syndrome (PXS) is an age-related fibrillopathy where fibrillar exfoliation material accumulates and deposits in ocular and extra-ocular tissue. Within the eye, this substance accumulates on the ocular surface and in the anterior segment of the eye, impacting ocular structures such as the conjunctiva, Tenon's capsule, sclera, cornea, iris, ciliary body, trabecular meshwork, and lens. This review aims to collate the current literature on how each anatomical part of the eye is affected by PXS, with a strong focus on molecular changes.
