Despite notable progress in treatment modalities, cancer continues to be a prom-inent cause of death globally. Chemotherapy is the main method used to treat cancer, and chemotherapeutic medications are categorized according to how they work. Nevertheless, the issue of multidrug resistance (MDR) is a significant obstacle, impacting almost 90% of cancer patients who receive chemotherapy or innovative targeted medicines.

Background/objectives: Recent research highlights the growing interest in the impact of nutrition on cognitive health and function in disease, as dietary habits are increasingly recognized as crucial factors in relation to brain function. This focus is especially important given the rising prevalence of neurodegenerative diseases and the cognitive decline associated with poor dietary choices. Links are now being sought between brain function and the microbiota and gut-brain axis.

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most common type of primary malignant brain tumor and has a dismal overall survival rate. To date, no GBM therapy has yielded successful results in survival for patients beyond baseline surgical resection, radiation, and chemotherapy. Immunotherapy has taken the oncology world by storm in recent years and there has been movement from researchers to implement the immunotherapy revolution into GBM treatment.

Messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccines have revolutionized the fight against infectious diseases and are poised to transform other therapeutic areas. Lipid nanoparticles (LNP) represent the most successful delivery system for mRNA. While the mRNA-LNP products currently in clinics are stored as frozen suspensions, there is evidence that freeze-drying mRNA-LNP into dry powders can potentially enable their storage and handling at non-freezing temperatures.
