Astrovirus MLB1 (HAstV-MLB1) is non-enveloped RNA virus that cause acute gastroenteritis infection. Despite research progress about infection and pathogenesis of HAstV-MLB1, Currently, no vaccine has been developed to effectively combat this pathogen. The current study is based on immunoinformatics and reverse vaccinology approaches to design next-generation, multi-epitope-based vaccine models against HAstV-MLB1.

MicroRNA-regulated flounder CLDN4 Functions in Anti-bacterial Immunity.

Fish Shellfish Immunol

March 2025

CAS and Shandong Province Key Laboratory of Experimental Marine Biology, Institute of Oceanology, Center for Ocean Mega-Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Qingdao, China; Laboratory for Marine Biology and Biotechnology, Qingdao Marine Science and Technology Center, Qingdao 266237, China. Electronic address:

CLDN4 belongs to a multi-transmembrane protein family of claudins, which mainly functions in cell-cell adhesion and migration. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are important post-transcriptional regulating factors that participate in broad biological process including immunity. Through high-throughput RNA sequencing strategy, a flounder miRNA, miR-29-x, was identified to be responsible to both bacteria and virus.

March 2025

Institute of Highland Forest Science, Chinese Academy of Forestry, Research Center of Engineering and Technology of Characteristic Forest Resources, Key Laboratory of Breeding and Utilization of Resource Insects, National Forestry and Grassland Administration, Kunming 650233, China. Electronic address:

As a by-product of shellac resin, the high-value utilization of lac terpene acid (LTA) is a major challenge. In this study, a novel adhesive material, designated as A-LTA, was developed through a facile synthesis reaction between LTA and melamine, demonstrating significantly enhanced performance characteristics. The A-LTA adhesive, owing to its diverse functional groups, demonstrates exceptional cross-linking and polymerization capabilities under elevated temperatures, resulting in the formation of multiple chemical bonds and a highly dense network structure.

In this study, composite films (BC/Ch/SA/EEMS) were fabricated using the casting method by incorporating bacterial cellulose (BC), chitosan (Ch), and sodium alginate (SA) with ethanolic Moringa seed extract (EEMS). HPLC analysis detected 16 polyphenolic compounds in EEMS, with Rutin (59.56 μg/mL) the most abundant, while GC-MS analysis identified 11-octadecenoic acid (88.

March 2025

State Key Laboratory of Meat Quality Control and Cultured Meat Development, Nanjing Agricultural University, Nanjing 210095, PR China. Electronic address:

Extracellular proteases of bacteria have attracted attention in recent years. Alkaline protease AprA secreted from Pseudomonas fragi has been shown to cause spoilage in chilled meat and to degrade myofibrillar proteins (MPs), but the spoilage mechanism was unknown. AprA possessed a high affinity for substrate proteins (K = 1.
