Background: Small conductance Ca activated K channels (K2.3) are important regulators of vascular function. They provide Ca-dependent hyperpolarization of the endothelial membrane potential, promoting agonist-induced vasodilation.

Background And Aims: Herbal plants may contribute to reducing the incidence of cardiovascular disease. Yerba mate (YM) emerges as a candidate to improve endothelial function, hemodynamics, and heart rate variability (HRV) due to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, potentially decreasing cardiovascular risk. Therefore, studies are needed to assess the effect of YM ingestion on these parameters.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Vascular endothelial dysfunction (VED) is recognized as a key triggering diabetic vascular complications. Danggui Liuhuang Decoction (DGLHD) has shown potential in mitigating these complications. However, the clinical efficacy of DGLHD in enhancing endothelial function, as well as the molecular mechanisms underlying its alleviation of Type 2 Diabetes-Related Vascular Endothelial Dysfunction (T2DM-VED), remains insufficiently understood.

This study examines the impact of mung bean () protein consumption on endothelial function in middle-aged adults, focusing on antioxidant enzyme activity and anti-inflammatory markers. Mung beans have shown promise in enhancing cardiovascular function, lowering blood pressure, and improving lipid profiles, but the underlying mechanisms of these functions remain unclear. Conducted as a three-arm randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, this study involved male and female participants aged 45 to 60 and assigned them to consume either a placebo or a mung bean functional drink containing 10 or 15 g of mung bean protein daily for six weeks.

How cardiovascular activity interacts with lipid homeostasis is incompletely understood. We postulated a role for blood flow acting at endothelium in lipid regulatory organs. Transcriptome analysis was performed on livers from mice engineered for deletion of the flow-sensing PIEZO1 channel in endothelium.
