High-Rate 4.2 V Solid-State Potassium Batteries by In Situ Polymerized Epoxide Ether Electrolyte.

Nano Lett

January 2025

College of Materials Science and Engineering, Hunan Joint International Laboratory of Advanced Materials and Technology of Clean Energy, Hunan Province Key Laboratory for Advanced Carbon Materials and Applied Technology, Hunan University, Changsha 410082, China.

Solid-state metallic potassium batteries (SSMPBs) afresh have attracted incremental attention because of their potential to supplement solid-state metallic lithium batteries. However, SSMPBs suffer poor electrochemical performances due to the low ionic conductivity of solid electrolytes and huge electrode/electrolyte interfacial resistance. Herein, high-rate SSMPBs are achieved by in situ ring-opening polymerization of 1,3-dioxolane with succinonitrile as a plasticizer and Al(OTf) as the catalyst, where the succinonitrile enables short-chain polyether electrolytes.

In vitro metabolism of seven arolyl-derived fentanyl-type new psychoactive substances.

Arch Toxicol

January 2025

School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Guangxi University, Nanning, Guangxi, 530004, People's Republic of China.

Over the past decade, fentanyl-type new psychoactive substances (F-NPS) have emerged as the most representative synthetic opioids in third-generation drugs. These substances are characterized by their "low" fatal dose and parent drug levels in biological matrices, "fast" rates of derivatization and metabolism, and "many" derivatization sites and analogs. The low levels of parent fentanyl NPS in biological matrices complicate their detection, necessitating the use of characteristic metabolites as biomarkers for forensic analysis.

Neonatal intensive care admissions and exposure to satellite-derived air pollutants in the United States, 2018.

Sci Rep

January 2025

Department of Epidemiology and Environmental Health, School of Public Health and Health Professions, University at Buffalo, 270 Farber Hall, Buffalo, NY, USA.

In the United States (US), neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) monitor and treat newborns for a variety of adverse health concerns including preterm status, respiratory distress and restricted growth. As such, NICU admission is an integrated measure of neonatal risk. We linked 2018 US national birth registry NICU admission data among singleton births with satellite and modelled air pollution levels for the month prior to birth to examine whether late-pregnancy exposure to ambient air pollutants is associated with adverse neonatal health outcomes.

Criegee intermediates (CIs) are potentially significant oxidants and a major source of OH radicals in the troposphere. The -CHCHOO intermediate has been confirmed as a crucial component of CIs in the atmospheric environment. Although previous studies have provided some experimental and theoretical rate constants, inconsistencies among these data remain, and the experimental data do not cover the full range of temperatures present in the troposphere.

Synthesis and Properties of Donor-Acceptor-Type Cyclobisbiphenylenecarbonyls.

Chemistry

December 2024

Nagoya University, Department of Molecular and Macromolecular Chemistry, Graduate School of Engineering, Furo-cho, Chikusa-ku, 464-8603, Nagoya, JAPAN.

The scalable synthesis of figure-eight π-systems is challenging for the conventional bottom-up approach. We have recently reported that the oxidative inner-bond cleavage of commercially available dibenzo[g,p]chrysene efficiently furnishes a figure-eight π-acceptor, cyclobisbiphenylenecarbonyl (CBBC), in large quantity. Furthermore, its donor-acceptor-type derivative with four N-carbazolyl substituents at the meta-positions of the carbonyl groups exhibited thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) and circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) with a high |gCPL| value of 1.
