Objective: To study the mechanical properties and the clinical results of minimum-contact plate in the treatment of fractures.

Methods: Four-point bending and torsion tests were conducted to compare the new minimum contact plate (MCP) with dynamic compression plate (DCP) and limited contact dynamic compression plate (LC-DCP). The fracture healing time and growth of bony callus were observed in 29 cases of long bone fracture fixed with MCP to evaluate the advantages of this kind of plate.

Results: The 29 patients who underwent MCP were followed up from 6 to 14 months. The average healing time for femoral, tibial and humeral fractures was 12, 13 and 10 weeks, respectively. All fractures were healed. No displacement of fracture, screw pullout, deformation or break of the plate were found.

Conclusions: The bending stiffness of MCP is significantly greater than that of DCP and LC-DCP (P<0.05). MCP can protect the periosteal blood supply against avascular osseous necrosis and accelerate bone healing. It is a kind of reliable and effective plate in treatment of fractures.

Highly resilient porous polyurethane composite scaffolds filled with whitlockite for bone tissue engineering.

J Biomater Sci Polym Ed

May 2023

Department of Biomedical Engineering, College of Biomedical Engineering, Taiyuan University of Technology, Taiyuan, P.R. China.

The present work is intended to provide a base for further investigation of the composite scaffolds for bone tissue engineering, and whitlockite/polyurethane (WH/PU) scaffolds, in particular. WH CaMg(HPO)(PO) was successfully prepared by means of a chemical reaction between Ca(OH), Mg(OH) and HPO. WH/PU scaffolds were synthesized polymerization.

Purpose: Benzoyl peroxide (BPO) is an effective acne treatment and has been used as a cleanser and short contact therapy. However, data on the minimum contact time of BPO needed to kill are lacking. Thus, the aim of this study was to determine the minimum contact time of commonly used BPO concentrations for bactericidal effects on .

Department of Orthopaedics, Daping Hospital, The Third Military Medical University, 10 Changjiang Branch Road, Yuzhong District, Chongqing 400042, People's Republic of China.

In this study, we investigated whether or not a new minimum contact locking compression plate (MC-LCP) can provide advantages over the limited contact dynamic compression plate (LC-DCP) in the context of interface contact area and force. Six matched pairs of cadaveric bones were used for each of three bone types of the humerus, radius and ulna. For each bone type, one of two bone plates was fixed to either of two matched cadaveric bones at the middle of the diaphysis.

Comparison of a new minimum contact locking plate and the limited contact dynamic compression plate in an osteoporotic fracture model.

Int Orthop

October 2009

Department of Orthopedics, Daping Hospital, The Third Military Medical University, 10 Changjiang Branch Road, Chongqing, 400042, People's Republic of China.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the biomechanical properties of a new minimum contact locking plate (MC-LP) compared with the limited contact dynamic compression plate (LC-DCP). Eighteen pairs of fresh human osteoporotic cadaver radii were equally divided into three groups. Each specimen was tested in each of the following force applications: anteroposterior (AP) four point bending, mediolateral (ML) four point bending, and torsion.
