In the present study, the mechanisms involved in scopolamine-induced memory impairment have been investigated. The molecular events that take place during memory mostly include mechanisms that are seen in the acquisition phase. Results showed that one of the mechanisms of memory destruction caused by scopolamine, in addition to weakening the cholinergic system, is the indirect effect of scopolamine on other neurotransmitter systems, including the glutamatergic system.

Ingestion of prominent levels of histamine (HIS) leads to dangerous effects on biological systems. The most frequent and active catechin in green tea is epigallocatechin gallate which has strong antioxidant properties. Our research intended to investigate the possible neuroprotective effect of epigallocatechin gallate-rich fraction (EGCGR) against HIS-inducing neurotoxicity.

Purpose: Pertussis bacteria have many pathogenic and virulent antigens and severe adverse reactions have occurred when using inactivated whole-cell pertussis vaccines. Therefore, inactivated acellular pertussis (aP) vaccines and genetically detoxified recombinant pertussis (rP) vaccines are being developed. The aim of this study was to assess the safety profile of a novel rP vaccine under development in comparison to commercial diphtheria-tetanus-acellular pertussis (DTaP) vaccines.
