Background: Platelet (PLT) glycoprotein (GP) IIb/IIIa receptor antagonists have demonstrated efficacy in decreasing ischemic complications of percutaneous coronary intervention and/or unstable angina. In case of bleeding, the drug can be stopped and PLT transfusions can be given.

Study Design And Methods: This crossover study tested the additive effects of PLT concentrates (PCs) after desmopressin (DDAVP) infusion in antagonizing the anti-PLT effects of GPIIb/IIIa inhibitors and aspirin. After eptifibatide and aspirin infusion (at standard dosages), 10 healthy volunteers received DDAVP or placebo. Thereafter, increasing amounts of PLTs from fresh single-donor apheresis concentrates were added in vitro to blood samples of all volunteers to increase PLT counts by 30 x 10(9), 60 x 10(9), or 120 x 10(9) per L.

Results: Adding platelets in vitro further improved PLT function after DDAVP: it shortened collagen-adenosine diphosphate closure times (p < 0.01), to normal ranges as measured by the PLT function analyzer (PFA-100). In contrast, normal PLT function could not be restored even when PLT counts were increased by 50 percent (120 x 10(9)/L) in the placebo group.

Conclusion: Combined use of PLTs from fresh apheresis PC and DDAVP additively enhances recovery of normal PLT function after eptifibatide infusion. Such a strategy may help to avoid excessive transfusion of PC.

Myosin light chain 9 mediates graft fibrosis after pediatric liver transplantation through TLR4/MYD88/NF-κB signaling.

Background & Aims: The incidence of graft fibrosis is elevated following pediatric liver transplantation (pLT) and is influenced by cold ischemic time (CIT). Myosin light chain 9 (MYL9), a member of the myosin family, could act on hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) and induce a transition to active phase. We hypothesized that cold ischemic injury could stimulate MYL9 expression and lead to graft fibrosis.

Department of Clinical Laboratory, Sichuan Clinical Research Center for Cancer, Sichuan Cancer Hospital & Institute, Sichuan Cancer Center, Affiliated Cancer Hospital of University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Chengdu, People's Republic of China.

The aim of this study was to investigate the role of platelet indicators in the susceptibility of ABO blood groups to lung adenocarcinoma. This was a multicenter retrospective cohort analysis. The study included 528 patients diagnosed with primary lung adenocarcinoma and 528 randomly selected control group patients who were admitted to the Chengdu Fifth People's Hospital from January 2021 to September 2023.

Background And Aims: Primary lung tumors (PLTs) in children are rare, and surgery remains the key to ensure remission. Here we describe the PLTs clinical characteristics, their management, and the pulmonary outcome following surgery.

Methods: We carried out a French national cohort of pediatric PLTs from 2013 to 2023 from the FRACTURE rare pediatric tumors national database.

Objective: This study aims to investigate the differences of clinical indices in HIV patients between three different first-line antiretroviral treatment strategies in Yunnan Province, China. Furthermore, the hematologic system, liver function, kidney function, blood lipid levels of HIV patients and its association with CD4+ count, CD8+ count, CD4/CD8 ratio and antiretroviral treatment were also assessed.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study included 81 participants who underwent highly active antiretroviral treatment from September 2009 to September 2019.
