Aim of this work was to establish the optimum operating conditions for the extraction and recovery by cationic reversed micelles of commercial glucose oxidase (GOX) from Aspergillus niger, in view of possible application to raw cell homogenates. The influence of pH, temperature, electric conductivity and solvent/co-solvents ratio on the extraction was investigated by a fractional factorial design of 2(3-1) type, conjugated with a mixture experimental design, using the residual enzyme activity to evaluate the results. The best conditions for GOX extraction were ensured using isooctane as solvent and hexanol and butanol as co-solvents at 76/6/18 volume ratio, pH 6.0, 0.2 M cetyl trimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as cationic surfactant, and electrical conductivity (kappa) of 4.8 mS cm-1. The highest yield of GOX activity recovery (about 90%) was in fair accordance with the value predicted by the model.

Unlabelled: Fibroblasts are considered a key player in the wound healing process. Although this cellular family is constituted by several distinct subtypes, dermal fibroblasts are crucial thanks to their ability to secrete pro-regenerative growth factors, extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins and their immune and anti-inflammatory role. Sophorolipids (SL), sophorosides (SS) and glucolipids (G), mono-unsaturated (C18:1) or saturated (C18:0), glycolipids derived from microbial fermentation of wild type or engineered yeast , constitute a novel sustainable class of bio-based chemicals with interesting physicochemical characteristics, which allow them to form soft diverse structures from hydrogels to vesicles, micelles or complex coacervates with potential interest in skin regeneration applications.

Ice plant () is a vegetable with various therapeutic uses, one of which is its ability to prevent diabetes. The present study examined the insulin secretion effect related to the mechanism of action of ice plant extract (IPE) and its active compound D-pinitol in a rat insulin-secreting β-cell line, INS-1, as well as in diabetic rats. : The glucose-stimulated insulin secretion (GSIS) test and Western blotting were used to measure GSIS.

This study evaluates the stress tolerance and metabolic adaptability of twelve yeast strains, including eleven commercial strains from Wyeast Laboratories and one prototrophic laboratory strain, under industrially relevant conditions. Yeast strains were assessed for their fermentation performance and stress responses under glucose limitation, osmotic stress, acid stress, elevated ethanol concentrations, and temperature fluctuations. Results revealed significant variability in glucose consumption, ethanol production, and stress tolerance across strains.
