Background: Multiple myeloma (MM) is charecterized by great clinical heterogeneity. Among known prognostic factors the cytogenetic abnormalities are thought to be of major importance. The aim of this study was to correlate certain chromosomal abnormalities with immunoglobulin isotype and survival in MM patients.
Patients And Methods: Forty-nine Greek MM patients, homogeneously treated with conventional-dose chemotherapy, were cytogenetically studied by direct culture of bone marrow cells and G-banding technique.
Results: Twenty-four patients had a normal karyotype while the remaining 25 patients presented numerical and structural abnormalities. Recurrent structural abnormalities were observed. Translocations involving the 14q32 region were observed in 8 cases, while 6 cases exhibited a del(1)(p12). We confirmed the negative impact of chromosomal abnormalities on the overall survival of MM patients and we also showed that t(11;14) had a worse impact on disease outcome as compared to t(14q32) with an unidentified partner chromosome. The presence of del(1) (p12) significantly worsened the prognosis in MM patients. No correlations existed between the association of immunoglobulin isotype with survival or certain chromosomal changes.
Conclusion: Further studies are indicated at the molecular level to clarify the exact role and the prognostic value of 1p12 involvement in MM patients.

Stereo-EEG is not just a diagnostic examination but a complex methodology, requiring an accurate synthesis of many data (anatomical, clinical, neurophysiological, cognitive, metabolic, and genetic). The implantation scheme is decided based on a hypothesis (or hypotheses) of epileptogenic zone localization. Subsequently, intracerebral electrical stimulation is used to define the extent of highly functional cortical regions and to reproduce the clinical symptoms and signs associated with seizures.

Purpose: We observed that the tumor microenvironment (TME) in metastatic epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) and in other solid tumors can reprogram normal neutrophils to acquire a complement-dependent suppressor phenotype characterized by inhibition of stimulated T cell activation. This study aims to evaluate whether serum markers of neutrophil activation and complement at diagnosis of EOC would be associated with clinical outcomes.
Experimental Design: We conducted a two-center prospective study of patients with newly diagnosed EOC (N = 188).

Anaemia is a common phenomenon in patients with malignant gynecological tumors. The occurrence of anaemia in the perioperative period leads to an increased probability of blood transfusion, increased surgical complications, poor wound healing, prolonged hospitalization, increased medical costs, and increased mortality. Intravenous iron, which is known for its rapid onset and lack of gastrointestinal side effects, has become increasingly prevalent in clinical practice.

The issue of obesity continues to reach new levels globally, affecting individuals across the age continuum. Obesity in pregnancy is associated with myriad comorbidities which may negatively impact the fetus, particularly dysfunctional labor and failure to progress ending in unplanned cesarean delivery. Neuraxial anesthesia represents the gold standard for cesarean delivery anesthesia and is increasingly beneficial for obese patients due to the risk of difficult airway.

Elevated serum uric acid (SUA) levels in pregnancy are linked to adverse outcomes, including preterm birth, preeclampsia, and low birth weight. To assess the predictive value of SUA levels in early pregnancy for adverse pregnancy outcomes (APOs). A cohort of 4,240 pregnant women admitted for delivery from January 2021 to December 2022 was analyzed.
