Thermoregulation is argued to be an important factor influencing body breadth in hominins based on the relationship of surface area to body mass first proposed by Bergmann. Selection for a narrow thorax, and thus a narrow pelvis, increases body surface area relative to body mass, which could be beneficial in hot climates if it leads to a decrease in core body temperature. However, the relationship between pelvic breadth and thermoregulation in humans has not been established.

Ultra-low-head turbines can harness energy from previously deemed unsuitable sites, including natural and man-made locations like shallow estuaries, marine canals, and industrial waterways. Various hydro-turbine concepts were evaluated for their potential to extract power from these areas. These turbines can generate renewable energy for utilization in remotely located areas.

Hydrokinetic Banki turbines present an affordable, technically feasible, environmentally friendly technology. Their construction without requiring more expensive structures like diversion weirs, canals, forebay, and penstock, makes their initial investment much lower than commonly used horizontal Banki turbine of the same capacity. The possibility to install in the existing canals for Ultra Low Head applications is the additional motivating factor for this research.

The hydroturbine runner is the core of the whole hydroelectric generating unit, which is employed to transform water energy into mechanical energy. In the process of service, the runner frequently suffers from abrasion due to erosion and cavitation. Defects are usually repaired by welding.

Ground reaction forces (GRFs) describe how runners interact with their surroundings and provide the basis for computing inverse dynamics. Wearable technology can predict time-continuous GRFs during walking and running; however, the majority of GRF predictions examine level ground locomotion. The purpose of this manuscript was to predict vertical and anterior-posterior GRFs across different speeds and slopes.
