Nitrogen adsorption in some silica xerogels leads to t plots that cannot be interpreted by the occurrence of capillary condensation or by the filling of micropores. Their particular appearance stems from the unique columnar structure of these samples at the nanometer scale, by which the adsorbent surface has a positive curvature. A standard thermodynamic approach allows the phenomenon to be exploited to characterize the samples.

In this study, kaolinite-poly(urea-formaldehyde) was successfully prepared through the polymerization of urea intercalated within the kaolinite structure. Polymerization was carried out under ambient conditions by immersing kaolinite-urea in formaldehyde. Evidence of urea intercalation and polymerization was obtained from FTIR, XRD, and thermal analysis (TG-DSC).

The utilization of cyanobacteria toxin-producing blooms for metal ions adsorption has garnered significant attention over the last decade. This study investigates the efficacy of dead cells from Microcystis aeruginosa blooms, collected from agricultural drainage water reservoir, in removing of cadmium, lead, and zinc ions from aqueous solutions, and simultaneously addressing the mitigation of toxin-producing M. aeruginosa bloom.

The development of earth-abundant oxygen evolution reaction (OER) electrocatalysts with high activity and durability is critical for replacing noble-metal-based catalysts in the applications of scalable water electrolysis. A freestanding electrode architecture offers significant advantages over conventional coated powder forms due to enhanced kinetics and stability. However, precise control over electrode composition and the construction of uniformly distributed active sites within these electrodes remain challenging.

Nitrate pollution poses severe risks to aquatic ecosystems and human health. The electrocatalytic nitrate reduction reaction (NITRR) offers a promising environmental and economic solution for nitrate pollution treatment and nitrogen source recovery; however, it continues to experience limited efficiency in neutral electrolytes. This study explores the heterointerface activation effects of TiO/CuO heterogeneous catalysts with rutile (R-TiO) and anatase (A-TiO) phases and reveals that R-TiO is an active crystal phase with high nitrate reduction performance.

The nitrogen-rich metal-organic framework (MOF) , featuring a melamine (MA) functional group, enables efficient one-step CH purification and methanol-to-olefins (MTO) product separation. At 298 K, its adsorption capacity follows the order CH > CH > CH > CH. Breakthrough experiments showed that produced pure CH from C mixtures with a productivity of 22.
