Background: Multi-slice spiral computed tomography (CT) angiography (MSCTA) has become the primary non-invasive image technique for evaluating cephalic and cervical vascular anatomy, especially vascular variant such as persistent carotid-basilar anastomosis. Persistent proatlantal intersegmental artery (PPIA) is an example of a rare persistent carotid-basilar anastomosis that deserves to be featured through this imaging technic.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to explore the imaging characteristics of the PPIA using MSCTA and to assess its clinical significance.

Safety evaluations for transtympanic laser stimulation of the cochlea in Mongolian gerbils (Meriones unguiculatus).

Neuroethology and Bioengineering, Graduate School of Life and Medical Sciences, Doshisha University, Kyotanabe, Kyoto, Japan; Neurobiology of Social Communication, Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Hearing Research Centre, University of Tübingen, Medical Center, Elfriede-Aulhorn-Strasse 5, Tübingen 72076, Germany. Electronic address:

Infrared laser stimulation of the cochlea has been proposed as a possible alternative to conventional auditory prostheses. Whereas previous studies have focused primarily on the short-term effects of laser stimulation, the practical application of this technics requires an investigation into whether prolonged laser exposure can induce neural responses and safely. This study assessed the effect of laser-induced damage to the cochlea on auditory perception using Mongolian gerbils (Meriones unguiculatus) trained with a classical conditioning task.

This research focused on the helicopter turboshaft engine dynamic model, identifying task solving in unsteady and transient modes (engine starting and acceleration) based on sensor data. It is known that about 85% of helicopter turboshaft engines operate in steady-state modes, while only around 15% operate in unsteady and transient modes. Therefore, developing dynamic multi-mode models that account for engine behavior during these modes is a critical scientific and practical task.

School of Electrical and Information Engineering, Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou 450001, China; Research Center for Intelligent Science and Engineering Technology of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Zhengzhou 450001, China. Electronic address:

Chrysanthemum, a widely favored flower tea, contains numerous phytochemicals for health benefits. Due to the different geographical origins and processing technics, its variety has a direct influence on the phytochemical content and pharmacological effect. Accordingly, an accurate identification for chrysanthemum varieties is significant for quality detection and market supervision.
