Eight normal subjects were examined in dark, light and color conditions. Mean cerebral blood flow velocity (MBFV) were recorded almost simultaneously from their posterior cerebral arteries (PCA) using transcranial Doppler (TCD) ultrasound. The side-to-side difference was significant during the dark (p = 0.0159) and color stimulation (p = 0.0001) but not in light condition. This side-to-side difference in MBFV was used to characterize lateralization of color perception. This showed that the right PCA was always greater than the left during the presentation of color stimuli. Primary psychological colors (blue, yellow, red and green) induced greater lateralization as compared with color resulting from a mixed blue-green wavelength. This suggests that the right visual cortex is selectively sensitive to wavelengths.

Lateral ankle soft tissue defects pose challenges, especially in cases due to chronic pressure from cross-legged sitting, which usually present with a large dead space, small skin opening that often accompanies an open joint. Traditional reconstruction methods using fasciocutaneous flaps may result in donor site morbidity such as delayed wound healing or nerve injury. In this article, we present a case of diabetes-related lateral ankle defect successfully treated using adiposal layer only flap, also known as pure fat flap.

Decentralized testing using multiplex lateral flow assays (mLFAs) to simultaneously detect multiple analytes can significantly enhance detection efficiency, reduce cost and time, and improve analytic accuracy. However, the challenges, including the monochromatic color of probe particles, interference between different test lines, and reduced specificity and sensitivity, severely hinder mLFAs from wide use. In this study, we prepared polydopamine (PDA)-coated dyed cellulose nanoparticles (dCNPs@P) with tunable colors as the probe for mLFAs.

A lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA) employing palladium nanoparticles (PdNPs) labelled with antibodies has been innovatively designed for the precise detection of Plasmodium falciparum pLDH and HRPII antigen. This study focuses on development of LFIA based on PdNPs detection system to substantially enhance the visual detectability (vLOD), achieving an impressive 12 parasites/microliter (p/µl) vLOD in comparison with conventional system represented 50 p/µl vLOD. The research introduces a novel amplification system that not only heightens the sensitivity of LFIA but also maintains intense coloration.

Background: Endoscopic mastectomy has gradually become an important surgical modality for the treatment of breast diseases, and is the preferred procedure for gynecomastia. However, endoscopic mastectomy presents challenges such as a steep learning curve, prolonged surgical duration, increased hospitalization costs, and high technical difficulty. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical efficacy and patient satisfaction of endoscopic mastectomy using a single axillary incision versus a triple lateral chest wall incision for gynecomastia.

Resveratrol is a polyphenol compound showing strong antioxidant properties. It is believed that semen cryopreservation causes significant sperm losses which eventually affects sperm quality. Improving antioxidant status of semen may reduce this damage and enhance sperm fertilizing potential.
