We describe a new technique of using titanium alloy anchors to perform internally rotating capsulorrhaphy during open reduction and stabilization procedure and obliteration of pseudoacetabulum when one exists. We routinely use anterior approach via bikini incision (modified Smith-Peterson approach) to perform open reduction and internally rotating capsulorrhaphy. We describe the technique of using barbed titanium alloy anchors preloaded with nonabsorbable sutures and two needles, to accomplish a secure and easy capsulorrhaphy, in selected cases.

Identifying the true acetabulum may prove challenging. In a patient with Crowe IV dysplasia, 3-dimensional mini-optical navigation was used to match the new hip center to the preoperative radiographic plan, which was identified to be 34 mm inferior to the pseudoacetabulum.

Objective: To compare the outcome of dogs treated with total hip arthroplasty (THA) for chronic hip luxation and pseudoacetabulum formation to that of dogs with simple hip dysplasia and secondary osteoarthritis.
Study Design: Retrospective, case-controlled study.
Animals: Seven dogs with pseudoacetabulum (group 1) and 21 matched control dogs (group 2).
