Background: Radiolabeled anti-myosin imaging is well-established for imaging doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity. However, to enable imaging of drug-induced cardiotoxicity in small experimental animals, pretargeting with bispecific anti-myosin-anti-DTPA-Fab-Fab' and targeting with high-specific radioactivity Tc-99m-DTPA-succinylated-polylysine (DSPL) was developed.

Methods: Mice were injected biweekly with 10 mg/kg Dox or its equivalent as D-Dox-PGA.

The Current Status of SPECT or SPECT/CT in South Korea.

Nucl Med Mol Imaging

June 2017

Department of Radiology, Incheon Saint Mary's Hospital, The Catholic University of Korea, #56 Dongsuro, Bupyeong-gu, Incheon, 403-720 South Korea.

The first step to nuclear medicine in Korea started with introduction of the gamma camera in 1969. Although planar images with the gamma camera give important functional information, they have the limitations that result from 2-dimensional images. Single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) due to its 3-dimensional image acquisition is superior to earlier planar gamma imaging in image resolution and diagnostic accuracy.

PEGylated nanoliposomes encapsulating angiogenic peptides improve perfusion defects: Radionuclide imaging-based study.

Nucl Med Biol

September 2016

Department of Nuclear Medicine, Molecular Imaging and Therapeutic Medicine Research Center, Cyclotron Research Center, Institute for Medical Sciences, Biomedical Research Institute, Chonbuk National University Medical School and Hospital, Jeonju, Jeonbuk, South Korea. Electronic address:

Introduction: Although liposomes hold promise for cancer therapy, the effectiveness of treating myocardial ischemia by promoting angiogenesis has yet to be proved. Nanoliposomes loaded with therapeutic agents can effectively target ischemic myocardium via enhanced permeability and retention. Surface polyethylene glycol (PEG) modification can further facilitate effective targeting by prolonging liposomal circulation.

Unlabelled: Ischemic insult to the myocardium is associated with cardiomyocyte apoptosis. Because apoptotic cell death is characterized by phosphatidylserine externalization on cell membrane and annexin-A5 (AA5) avidly binds to phosphatidylserine, we hypothesized that radiolabeled AA5 should be able to identify the regions of myocardial ischemia.

Methods: Models of brief myocardial ischemia by the occlusion of the coronary artery for 10 min (I-10) and reperfusion for 180 min (R-180) for the detection of phosphatidylserine exteriorization using (99m)Tc-labeled AA5 and gamma-imaging were produced in rabbits.
