Introduction: The objective of this study was to determine whether the tumor volume in radical prostatectomy specimens of patients with prostate cancer who underwent neoadjuvant hormonal therapy (NHT) could be used as a prognostic predictor.

Patients And Methods: In this study, we included 96 patients who underwent NHT followed by radical prostatectomy between January 1995 and July 2003 in our institutions. Several clinicopathological factors of these patients were analyzed, focusing on the association between tumor volume in radical prostatectomy specimens and disease recurrence.

Results: The tumor volume in radical prostatectomy specimens after NHT was significantly associated with capsular penetration, seminal vesicle invasion, and lymph node metastases, among the factors examined in this study. The biochemical recurrence-free survival rates in patients with tumor volumes <1.0 cm(3) were significantly higher than in those having tumor volumes > or =1.0 cm(3). However, multivariate analysis showed that the tumor volume could not be used as an independent predictor for biochemical recurrence.

Conclusions: In patients who received NHT prior to radical prostatectomy, the tumor volume was shown to correlate with other prognostic indicators. Furthermore, a higher probability of biochemical recurrence was noted, when there was a residual tumor volume > or =1.0 cm(3) after NHT. Thus, careful follow-up and, if necessary, additional treatment should be considered in cases demonstrating tumor volumes > or =1.0 cm(3) after NHT.

Purpose: Undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcomas (UPSs) demonstrate therapy-induced hemosiderin deposition, granulation tissue formation, fibrosis, and calcification. We aimed to determine the treatment-assessment value of morphologic tumoral hemorrhage patterns and first- and high-order radiomic features extracted from contrast-enhanced susceptibility-weighted imaging (CE-SWI).

Materials And Methods: This retrospective institutional review board-authorized study included 33 patients with extremity UPS with magnetic resonance imaging and resection performed from February 2021 to May 2023.

Background: Limb-salvage surgery for malignant bone tumors can be associated with considerable perioperative blood loss. The aim of this randomized controlled trial was to assess the safety and efficacy of the intraoperative infusion of tranexamic acid (TXA) in children and adolescents undergoing limb-salvage surgery.

Methods: All participants were <18 years of age at the time of surgery and diagnosed with a malignant bone tumor of the femur that was treated with resection and reconstruction with a megaprosthesis.

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have emerged as pivotal regulatory molecules in cancer biology. Among these, long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 02418 (LINC02418), a recently identified lncRNA, has been linked to endometrial cancer (EC), although its function and operational mechanisms are largely unclear. The present investigation aims to elucidate the molecular mechanism through which LINC02418 influences EC pathogenesis.

Background: Primary tumor thickness is important for prognosis of melanoma patients. To enhance prevention and quantify the true burden of melanoma, better understanding of thickness patterns and associated characteristics is crucial. Previous studies have been limited to report trends and address risk factors of thickness in specific melanoma subtypes in the Greek population.
