Aim: To study the therapeutic effects of N,N'-diacetyl-L-cystine (DiNAC) on immunological liver failure.
Methods: Serum ALT, AST and T cell subsets in peripheral blood of the experimental animals during the trial period were analyzed by an automatic serum analyzer and a flow cytometer, respectively. The sectioned liver specimens were examined under a light microscope. And 24 h after the injection of Gal/LPS, the survival rate of rats was calculated.
Results: DiNAC (50, 200, 800 mg x kg(-1), i.p.) suppressed the elevation of serum levels of ALT and AST, markedly enhanced proliferation and differentiation of T cell subsets (CD4+, CD8+ and Th1, Th2), and improved all the histopathological features. In mice of fulminant hepatic failure (FHF), the survival time significantly prolonged and the survival rate increased 24 h after i.p. DiNAC. These effects were obviously dose-dependent.
Conclusion: DiNAC on mice with FHF has an inhibitory action which is related to immune mechanism.

Background: Mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) type 1 S and type 2 are rare lysosomal storage disorders characterized by impaired enzyme production, resulting in glycosaminoglycans accumulation within lysosomes. Enzyme Replacement Therapy (ERT) with laronidase and idursulfase are first line treatments, respectively. However, infusion-related hypersensitivity reactions (HR) may lead to ERT discontinuation.

Most abscopal effects are reported as sporadic and unpredictable events following radiotherapy at symptomatic sites. Herein, we report a case in which a planned abscopal effect was induced following deliberate radiotherapy and concurrent systemic immunotherapy. A 53-year-old man with a combined positive score ≥10 developed extensive metastatic bladder cancer after progressing on conventional chemotherapy.

The gut microbiota plays a pivotal role in influencing the metabolism and immune responses of the body. A balanced microbial composition promotes metabolic health through various mechanisms, including the production of beneficial metabolites, which help regulate inflammation and support immune functions. In contrast, imbalance in the gut microbiota, known as dysbiosis, can disrupt metabolic processes and increase the risk of developing diseases, such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, and inflammatory disorders.

Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is the most common cause of chronic liver diseases with its pathophysiological mechanism poorly understood. In this work, serological, histological, molecular biological, biochemical, and immunological methods were applied to explore the pathological significance and action of zinc finger protein 281 (ZFP281 in mouse, ZNF281 in human) and targeted strategies. We reported that ZFP281/ZNF281 abundance in hepatocytes was positively correlated with the progression of NASH.

In this study, we designed a fusion protein, rhCR, by combining human collagen with the self-assembling peptide RADA-16 using genetic engineering technology. The rhCR protein was successfully expressed in . The rhCR can self-assemble into a three-dimensional nanofiber network under physiological conditions.
