Medical implants are designed to replace missing parts or improve body functions and must be capable of providing structural support or therapeutic intervention for a medical condition. Advances in materials science have enabled the development of devices made from metals, polymers, bioceramics, and composites, each with its specific advantages and limitations. This review analyzes the incorporation of biopolymers, proteins, and other biomacromolecules into implants, focusing on their role in biological integration and therapeutic functions.

Plant responses to changes in temperature can be a key factor in predicting the presence and managing invasive plant species while conserving resident native plant species in dryland ecosystems. Climate can influence germination, establishment, and seedling biomass of both native and invasive plant species. We tested the hypothesis that common and widely distributed native and an invasive plant species in dryland ecosystems in California respond differently to increasing temperatures.

The exchange bias (EB) effect is a fundamental magnetic phenomenon, in which the exchange bias field/coercive field ratio (|H/H|) can improve the stability of spintronic devices. Two-dimensional (2D) magnetic heterostructures have the potential to construct low-power and high-density spintronic devices, while their typically air unstable and |H/H| lesser, limiting the possibility of applications. Here, 2D CrTe nanosheets have been systematically synthesized with an in situ formed ≈2 nm-thick Te doped CrO layer (Te-CrO) on the upper surface by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method.

2D Dion-Jacobson (DJ) chiral perovskite materials exhibit significant promise for developing high-performance circularly polarized light (CPL) photodetectors. However, the inherently thick nature of DJ-phase 2D perovskite single crystal limits their ability to differentiate CPL photons with the two opposite polarization states. In addition, the growth of DJ-phase perovskite single crystal thin films (SCTFs) has proven challenging due to the strong interlayer electronic coupling.

The wide application of zeolite Y in petrochemical industry is well known as one of the milestones in zeolite chemistry and heterogeneous catalysis. However, the traditional organic-free synthesis typically produces (hydro)thermally unstable zeolite Y with Si/Al atomic ratio (SAR) less than 2.5.
