Understanding the interactions between molecules and sensing elements is crucial to improving sensors. We present one step toward getting closer to the breach between theory and empirical sensor development. Through density functional theory (DFT) calculations, we explored the changes in some optical properties of pristine graphene (G), graphene oxide (GO), and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) interacting with one molecule of acetaminophen (APAP).

Flood models, while representing our best knowledge of a natural phenomenon, are continually evolving. Their predictions, albeit undeniably important for flood risk management, contain considerable uncertainties related to model structure, parameterization, and input data. With multiple sources of flood predictions becoming increasingly available through online flood maps, the uncertainties in these predictions present considerable risks related to property devaluation.

In this paper, we introduce and analyze a discrete-time model of an epidemic spread in a heterogeneous population. As the heterogeneous population, we define a population in which we have two groups which differ in a risk of getting infected: a low-risk group and a high-risk group. We construct our model without discretization of its continuous-time counterpart, which is not a common approach.

What makes routine maternal and neonatal health data to be 'good quality'? That depends on whom you ask - the people collecting and reporting these data across health system levels have different priorities and face varying constraints. Data are constructed by people, about people, and they both reflect and impact human interactions. This study analyses the power dynamics shaping how routine health data are collected and reported in labour wards of two hospitals in Southern Tanzania.
