We investigated whether a suspension technique of vesicourethral anastomosis with pubo-prostatic ligaments improved urinary continence following radical retropubic prostatectomy. The suspension of vesicourethral anastomosis was performed in 55 consecutive patients with clinically localized prostate cancer by placement of two stitches, which were anchored to pubo-prostatic ligaments preserving their anterior attachments to the pubic bone. Continence rates, positive rates of surgical margins, and complications in these patients after radical prostatectomy were compared with the results of 30 randomly selected patients in whom a suspension technique was not performed. There were no significant differences in the positive rates of either surgical margins or complications between these two groups. In contrast, continence rates in the suspension group at one and three months (75% and 89%) were significantly higher than those (13% [p<0.001] and 67% [p<0.01]) of the control group. The suspension technique appears to have an advantage in immediate recovery of urinary continence following radical retropubic prostatectomy.

Immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) therapy is a cornerstone treatment for many cancers, but it can induce severe immunotoxicity, including acute interstitial nephritis (AIN). Currently, kidney biopsy is required to differentiate ICI-AIN from other causes of acute kidney injury (AKI). However, this invasive approach can lead to morbidity, delayed glucocorticoid treatment for patients with AIN, and unnecessarily prolonged suspension of ICI therapy in non-AIN patients.

The need for surfactants arises from the fact that finely milled pristine MP particles generally are hydrophobic. Link & Otto, an endemic plant of Mexico, is widely distributed in the central area of the country, mainly in the states of Tlaxcala, Puebla, and the State of Mexico. Ethnobotanical studies in different communities of these states have demonstrated that it is primarily used to treat diabetes and mental illnesses, such as "los nervios" (nerves) and "el ansia" (anxiety); these terms are used in traditional medicine, but it is accepted that they refer to anxiety disorders. This study aimed to validate the traditional use of aerial parts of Link & Otto in treating these illnesses.
