Since the establishment of the COVID-19 pandemic, a range of studies have been developed to understand the pathogenesis of SARS-CoV-2 infection, vaccine development, and therapeutic testing. However, the possible impacts that these viruses can have on non-target organisms have been explored little, and our knowledge of the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic for biota is still very limited. Thus, the current study aimed to address this knowledge gap by evaluating the possible impacts of oral exposure of C57Bl/6 J female mice to SARS-CoV-2 lysate protein (at 20 µg/L) for 30 days, using multiple methods, including behavioral assessments, biochemical analyses, and histopathological examinations.

A 61-year-old woman underwent an emergent operation with sigmoid colon cancer resection, colostomy, and ileostomy on colon perforation. The low ileostoma, caused by intra-abdominal bad conditions, had irritated the surrounding skin after surgery, intermittently forcing the patient to fast for a certain period. Six months after the operation, under the judgment that re-ileostomy, essential for hospital discharge, seemed very difficult through another laparotomy, we attempted to make the ileostoma higher not with pulling the ileum from the abdomen but with lowering the surrounding skin using skin flap formation techniques.

Studies suggest that there is a relationship between inflammatory diseases, inflammatory markers such as C-reactive protein (CRP) and psychiatric disorders. In eating disorders, cross-sectional studies have recently examined peripheral CRP levels in blood serum and plasma, which allow a comprehensive meta-analysis. This systematic review and meta-analysis examined studies from three databases, measuring CRP levels in people with eating disorders, following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines.
