We present the eighth published case of divided left atrium co-existing with tetralogy of Fallot. This is the first report of preoperative echocardiographic diagnosis of this unusual combination of defects. Demonstration of a partition within the left atrium is imperative for successful repair of the combined lesions. We draw attention to the need for careful echocardiography in patients where an obstruction to pulmonary venous drainage would dramatically affect the outcome subsequent to surgical correction.

Cinnamic acid (CA) possesses important cardiovascular effects such as cardioprotective, antiatherogenic, antihyperlipidemic and antioxidant, which predicts its potential role in the treatment of hypertension. The study was executed to investigate the antihypertensive potential of CA in Sprague Dawley (SD) rats followed by evaluation in diverse vascular preparations. Invasive blood pressure monitoring technique was used in normotensive and hypertensive rats, under anesthesia.

Cardiac myxomas, the most common primary cardiac tumors, are believed to originate from multipotent mesenchymal cells. Approximately 75% of myxomas occur within the left atrium, increasing the risk of systemic thromboembolic events. While typically benign, atrial myxomas can rarely metastasize to the brain, with fewer than 60 cases reported.

The main objective of this study was to investigate the optimal post-left atrial appendage closure (LAAC) anticoagulation strategy, focusing on minimizing device-related thrombosis (DRT) and thromboembolism (TE) events without increasing bleeding risk. After successful LAAC, consecutive participants were treated with 45-day anticoagulants (rivaroxaban 15 mg daily, dabigatran 110 mg twice a day, and warfarin). The efficacy endpoints included DRT, TE, and hospital readmissions due to cardiac caused, while safety endpoints encompassed bleeding events, monitored over a 12-month follow-up period.

Objectives: Surgical options for mitral valve repair in dogs are unstandardized and influenced by various factors. This study describes a four-point surgical technique (MI-4) to reduce mitral regurgitation and provides data from a study of dogs with 12 months of follow up.
Methods: Twenty-five dogs with stages C or D mitral insufficiency were treated by one of two surgeons using the MI-4 procedure at Ueno no Mori Animal Hospital between October 2021 and May 2023.

Introduction: Preeclampsia (PE) is thought to be the consequence of impaired placental perfusion leading to placental hypoxia. While it has been demonstrated that PE may be a consequence of maternal cardiovascular maladaptation, the exact role of maternal cardiac function remains to be determined. This study sought to assess cardiac characteristics in pregnant women diagnosed with PE and to determine the possible relationship between PE, maternal cardiac changes/function, and NT-proBNP levels.
