Published: March 1989

A model for posture recording has been developed in order to provide for some features of sitting. Briefly, these features were related to seated subjects undergoing classroom activities, for whom positions of different body segments had to recorded as accurately as possible. The proposed procedure has allowed the identification of a great number of different postures presented by the subjects as well as their relative frequency of occurrence. The model may also be applicable to a wide range of situations involving general sitting posture in factories, offices, schools, etc, allowing some adjustments for specific cases.
