Drought presents a major challenge to the management of rocky desertification and ecological restoration in the delicate karst ecosystems of Guangxi. In this study, the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), fractional vegetation cover (FVC) and net primary productivity (NPP) were selected as vegetation remote sensing parameters, and the spatial response characteristics of different types of vegetation in karst areas of Guangxi Province to light, moderate, severe and extreme drought were analyzed to provide scientific basis for the evaluation of the impact of drought on vegetation in karst areas. The results are as follows: (1) NDVI, FVC and NPP showed a fluctuating increasing trend from 2000 to 2022, and the increasing rates were 0.

Electromagnetic induction (EMI) shielding has become essential across various industries to counteract the detrimental impact of EMI on electronic devices and delicate machinery. Traditional EMI shielding materials, predominantly composed of metals and metal alloys, raise environmental concerns due to their non-biodegradability and energy-intensive manufacturing processes. Consequently, demand for environmentally friendly materials for EMI shielding applications is rising.

It is important for the floor of railroad cars to be fitted with vibration- and noise-reducing, fire-resistant, and durable materials. In this study, inspired by a delicate and ordered bamboo gradient structure and excellent multilevel interfaces, we fabricated a laminated composite with characteristics similar to those of the bamboo structure using a simple and effective "top-down" method by laminating fast-growing wood, waste rubber, and bamboo charcoal plastic sheets made of bamboo processing residues. This composite material combines the unique advantages of a laminated structure design and composite interface bionics.

The microfiber-based optical structures have been attracting increasing research interests in communications and sensing fields. However, the fabrication of forming structures on fragile microfibers requires delicate operations, which limits the developments of their practical applications. In this work, a one-step-tapering technique is proposed to manufacture structures on microfibers.

The exploration of cost-effective, highly efficient and robust electrocatalysts toward the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) is of paramount significance for the advancement of future renewable energy conversion devices, and yet still remains a great challenge. Herein, we demonstrate a straightforward one-step pyrolysis strategy for the scalable synthesis of an iron-nitrogen-carbon hierarchically nanostructured catalyst, in which Fe-based nanoparticles are encapsulated in bamboo-like N-doped carbon nanotubes in situ rooted from porous N-doped carbon nanosheets (Fe@N-C NT/NSs). The delicate fabrication of such an 0D/1D/2D integrated hierarchical architecture with encased Fe species and open configuration renders the formed Fe@N-C NT/NSs with sufficient confined active sites, reduced charge transfer resistance, improved diffusion kinetics and outstanding mechanical strength.
