Homocysteine may contribute to systolic hypertension and cardiac events by decreasing conduit artery compliance and inducing endothelial dysfunction. The effects of the experimental induction of hyperhomocysteinemia on systemic arterial compliance and pulsewave velocity are unclear, with contradictory results from previous studies. The investigators tested whether oral methionine impairs brachial artery compliance in addition to endothelial function.

We investigated the associations of ongoing, chronic stress exposure and stress appraisal on vascular endothelial function (VEF) in young adults. In 72 healthy young adults (74% female; age = 25±1 y), we assessed chronic stress exposure and appraisal with a measure that quantified chronic stress exposure and chronic stress appraisal related to 8 specific stressors over the last year. Participants completed the perceived stress scale (PSS) as a measure of global, proximal stress appraisal.

BACKGROUND Identifying patients at higher risk of acute ischemic cerebrovascular events (AICE) following central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO) is crucial for secondary prevention of stroke. This study aimed to investigate whether a low ankle-brachial index value is associated with an increased risk of AICE after CRAO. MATERIAL AND METHODS We prospectively analyzed patients who were admitted to our hospital because of CRAO between February 2019 and March 2023 and whose ankle-brachial index was no greater than 1.

Background And Purpose: Numerous studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of Chinese medicine injections (CMIs) in treating diabetic lower extremity arterial disease (Dia-LEAD). However, with the variety of CMIs available, it has become challenging to determine the optimal choice for Dia-LEAD patients. This study aims to compare and rank the efficacy of CMIs for Dia-LEAD to provide references and evidence for clinicians in optimising drug selection.

Acute limb ischemia is a critical vascular emergency often resulting from embolic sources, requiring prompt intervention to prevent significant morbidity and mortality. This paper presents a case of a 74-year-old female with acute limb ischemia due to a thromboembolus in the distal brachial artery and a nonocclusive mobile thrombus in the innominate artery. The patient underwent urgent brachial artery thromboembolectomy and subsequent retrograde innominate artery stenting via right open transcarotid approach.

Purpose: To investigate the impact of blood pressure (BP) on rates of retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thinning in glaucomatous eyes with focal ischemic (FI) versus generalized enlargement (GE) optic disc phenotypes.

Design: Prospective cohort study.

Participants: The study included 122 eyes from 101 patients diagnosed with primary open-angle glaucoma.
