: The prevalence of metabolic syndrome in children has been increasing, raising concerns about early detection and clinical management. Adipokines, which are secreted by adipose tissue, play a critical role in metabolic regulation and inflammation, while gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT), as a liver enzyme, is linked to oxidative stress and metabolic disorders. The objective was to examine the association of circulating adipokines and GGT with metabolic syndrome risk in school-aged children from Northeast Mexico.

: The increase in patients with type 2 diabetes, coupled with the development of complications caused by the same disease is an alarming aspect for the health sector. One of the main complications of diabetes is nephropathy, which is also the main cause of kidney failure. Once diagnosed, in Mexican patients the kidney damage is already highly compromised, which is why acting preventively is extremely important.

Background: Research into the mechanisms of growth control during birth and postnatal life has shown that adipose tissue regulates many physiological functions in the body by secreting adipokines. The aims of this study were to investigate the serum levels of visfatin and vaspin in healthy and unhealthy pregnant women and its relationship with their newborns' anthropometric measurements.
Materials And Methods: A total of 82 pregnant women were included in this study with their respective newborn) healthy pregnant women (n = 30), with obesity (n = 26) and with gestational diabetes (GD) (n = 26).
