Electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry is a widely applied method for the analysis of acylcarnitines in blood samples spotted on filter paper cards (Guthrie cards). When the filter paper cards are contaminated by EMLA cream, highly intense signals at m/z 221 and 235 are detected under ESI-MS/MS conditions, monitoring for precursors of m/z 85. These signals correspond to the active ingredients prilocaine and lidocaine in EMLA and overlap with the signals from the isotopically labelled internal standards (2H3)propionyl carnitine and (2H3)butyrylcarnitine. This interference prevents the proper quantification of the two short-chain acylcarnitines when samples are analysed without derivatization.

Researchers today face significant challenges reshaping the landscape of academic, government, and industry research due to the exponential growth of global research outputs and the advent of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI). The annual increase in published works has made it difficult for traditional literature review and data analysis methods to keep pace, often rendering reviews outdated by the time of publication. In response, this methods article introduces a suite of new tools designed to automate a number of stages for systematic literature reviews.

Unlabelled: Proper surgical technique is crucial for optimizing wound healing and reducing scar tissue formation. There are numerous measures a surgeon can take to improve wound healing; however, the angle of the incision made at the surgical site has been suggested to potentially play a role in wound healing, particularly between beveled and perpendicular incisions.
Objectives: The goal of this study was to analyze the literature and observe whether a discrepancy exists between using beveled vs perpendicular incisions in surgical procedures, as well as to understand the relationship between incision angles and physiologic wound healing.

Slow sand filters (SSFs) have been increasingly applied to rainwater purification in recent years, but the response of SSFs to fluctuating rainfall, as well as the biofilm- and water-phase microecology in SSFs are still poorly understood. This study systematically evaluated the rainwater purification performance of SSFs and compared the bacterial community structure, assembly processes and molecular ecological interactions between the biofilm and water phases. The activated carbon and activated alumina filters exhibited the best performance for NH-N (18.

Anomaly detection on graph data has garnered significant interest from both the academia and industry. In recent years, fueled by the rapid development of Graph Neural Networks (GNNs), various GNNs-based anomaly detection methods have been proposed and achieved good results. However, GNNs-based methods assume that connected nodes have similar classes and features, leading to issues of class inconsistency and semantic inconsistency in graph anomaly detection.

Urban stormwater pollution poses serious risks to human and environmental health, including trace metals toxicity. To improve the performance of existing highway Vegetated Filter Strips (VFS), which have limited performance for volume reduction and pollutant removal, amendment with a Vegetated Compost Blanket (VCB), a layer of seeded compost, has been proposed. A novel VCB/VFS system was assessed as a Stormwater Control Measure (SCM) via particulate matter and trace metals removal performance.
