Objective: To establish a GC method using wide bore open tubular columns f or controlling pretreatment for polystyrene-type macroporous absorbing resins and its eligible standard.
Method: A model macroporous absorbing resins made in our lab was eluted by anhydrous alcohol. The residual solvents in elution (xylene, styrene, diethylbenzene, divinybenzene, decane) were assayed by GC. When the residual solvents can not be detected, the pretreatment is eligible. Compare this method with the methods referring in the literatures.
Result: When using this method to control the pretreatment, the resins need to be elute 11 times with anhydrous alcocol. When using "adding several times water in the alcohol elution will not be turbid" to control the pretreatment, the resins need to be elute 3 times with anhydrous alcocol. When using "the elution have no UV absorption between the wavelength 200-400 nm" to control the pretreatment, the resins need to be elute over 20 times with anhydrous alcocol.
Conclusion: The method is simple and feasible.

Carboxymethyl cellulose sodium salt (CMC)-based superabsorbents are promising materials for the development of agricultural matrices aimed at water management and slow-release fertilizer production. However, an increase in the CMC content tends to reduce their water-absorbing capacity. This study aims to develop a cost-effective method for producing eco-friendly superabsorbents with enhanced water-absorbing capacity by incorporating a porogen and employing lyophilization.

The thickness of X-ray detectors needs to reach hundreds of micrometers to absorb X-ray, and therefore, high voltages over tens or hundreds of volts should be applied to extract X-ray-generated carriers. Here, we propose a bulk Schottky junction for X-ray detection using interpenetrated macroporous-carbon electrodes and metal-halide perovskite networks. The X-ray-generated holes are extracted by the macroporous-carbon electrodes under the built-in electric field, while the electrons in the perovskite phase result in a high gain effect.

Water pollution caused by toxic dyes such as methylene blue (MB) has become a bottleneck for recycling or reusing enormous industrial wastewater. Designing a green and cost-effective bio-absorbent for the highly efficient removal of MB from wastewater is crucial but remains a great challenge. In this study, abundant, inexpensive, and environmentally benign lignin and bentonite were used as starting materials, and quaternary and amphiphilic lignin as a network macromolecule was designed to be inserted into the galleries of the stacked bentonite clay to prepare lignin-bentonite nanohybrids.
