Objective: To evaluate sperm membrane system integrity in unexplained infertile male subjects with three consecutive conception failures on IUI even though semen clinical parameters were normal.
Design: Prospective study.
Setting: Medical biotechnology laboratory, School of Medical Science and Technology IIT Kharagpur, India.
Patient(s): Twenty-nine patients with unexplained infertility, 17 normal proven-fertile healthy donors, and 21 infertile males with low motility but with other semen parameters remaining normal.
Intervention(s): Semen samples were collected from unexplained infertile patients as well as from healthy fertile donors after abstinence of 3-5 days and were analyzed according to World Health Organization guidelines.
Main Outcome Measure(s): Release of 5'-nucleotidase (plasma membrane marker), lactate dehydrogenase (mitochondrial marker) and free acrosin, proacrosin, and total acrosin (acrosomal membrane marker).
Result(s): Plasma membrane integrity and respiratory activity of sperm cells were comparable in all three groups. The proacrosin-acrosin system was adversely affected in unexplained infertile subjects despite high sperm motility.
Conclusion(s): Total acrosin activity may be considered as a sensitive biochemical marker for clinical evaluation of unexplained infertility in males.

The downregulation of anti-adhesive regulatory proteins and upregulation of adhesive genes are critical for the receptive endometrium. This study was designed to determine whether switching between the anti-adhesive podocalyxin (PDX) and adhesive HOXA10 receptivity modulator occurs in the endometrium of women with recurrent implantation failure (RIF). Twenty-four patients with RIF who could not conceive for three or more cycles despite good-quality embryo transfer constituted the study group.

Background: Asthenozoospermia, characterized by reduced sperm motility, is a common cause of male infertility. Multiple morphological abnormalities of the sperm flagella (MMAF) represent a severe and genetically heterogeneous form of asthenozoospermia. Over 50 genes have been associated, but approximately half of MMAF cases remain unexplained.

Background: Infertility affects millions worldwide, with a significant proportion of cases remaining unexplained. Recent evidence suggests a potential link between lipid metabolism and reproductive health, prompting investigations into novel biomarkers like the non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (NHHR) for assessing infertility risk.
Methods: This study utilized data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) to conduct a cross-sectional analysis of 5,524 women aged 20-45 in the United States.

Background: There are limited and controversial findings concerning ovulation induction using intrauterine and intramuscular human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) injection compared to intramuscular hCG alone. The study aimed to examine the impact of intrauterine hCG injection, which is used to induce ovulation, on the efficacy of the intrauterine insemination (IUI) technique in patients with unexplained infertility.
Methods: A randomized controlled clinical trial was conducted involving 80 subjects with unexplained primary infertility at the infertility clinic of Al-Zahra Hospital in northwest Iran.
Introduction: Infertility is a significant health problem with psycho-social burden for couples. Ayurveda considers a holistic approach, including complex multimodal regimens in managing infertility. Increasing evidence has shown that Yoga as an adjuvant to infertility treatment increases pregnancy rates.
