Purpose: The paper proves to show the influence of new strategies in therapy of primary glaucoma, on the number of trabeculectomies performed.

Material And Methods: Sex, age, kind of glaucoma and indications to the surgery in patients treated in the Municipal Hospital of Gdynia in the years 1992-2003 have been analyzed.

Results: The number of hospitalized females was much higher than males. 60.34% of them were over 60 years old. In that period 865 patients were hospitalized, 614 with POAG and 251 with PACG. In 163 of them, 124 trabeculectomies were performed: in the years 1992-1997 and 39 in the period of 1998-2003 years.

Conclusions: The decrease in trabeculectomies indicates more and more effective prophylaxis and treatment of glaucoma.

We present a case of Acute Angle-Closure Crisis (AACC) precipitated by primary transient psychogenic polydipsia; we believe that our case is the first of its kind to be reported. A 74-year-old male presented to the emergency department with altered mental status due to acute-onset hyponatremia. Six days after admission, the patient noticed painful loss of vision in his right eye and an ipsilateral headache lasting 10-15 minutes.

Objective: Evaluation of cognitive impairment in individuals with Primary Open Angle Glaucoma (POAG).

Methods: In this case-control study, individuals with POAG (cases, n=70) were compared with age- and sex-matched healthy individuals (controls, n=70) using detailed ophthalmological evaluation, cognitive assessment and serum cortisol level.

Prcis: In the real-world, retrospective, EXPAND study of consecutive adults with glaucoma, ab-externo gel stent implantation effectively lowered intraocular pressure (34%) and the medication burden (61%), with transient/self-resolving hypotony as the most frequent adverse event (28%).

Purpose: To assess effectiveness and safety of ab-externo gel stent (GS) implantation in glaucoma.

Methods: Multicenter, real-world, retrospective study.

Prcis: The discriminant function of glaucoma, obtained by the Laguna ONhE colorimetric program, significantly correlates with the BMO-MRW. Furthermore, the diagnostic capacity was inferior to other structural tests in POAG patients.

Purpose: To evaluate the diagnostic capability for glaucoma and the correlation between peripapillary and macular parameters using spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) and optic nerve head hemoglobin (OHN Hb) levels assessed by the Laguna ONhE® software using colorimetric analysis.

Background: To compare structural and vascular parameters between advanced pseudoexfoliation glaucoma (PXG) and primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG).

Methods: One hundred and six eyes of 81 patients were enrolled in this cross-sectional study. All patients underwent complete ophthalmic examination and measurement of the thickness of the peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) and ganglion cell complex (GCC).
