The important experimental design criteria for an accelerated low-pH RPLC column stability test are discussed. The influence of method variables on the amount and rate of retention-loss and the final optimized parameters for the accelerated low-pH RPLC stability test are presented. The retention-loss curves for selected C8 and C18 stationary phases are compared. These studies indicate that ligand chain length, functionality and bonding density play an important role in determining the low-pH stability of a stationary phase. Additionally, elemental analysis data are used to infer the mechanism responsible for the observed retention-loss under low-pH conditions.

The reaction of aqueous suspensions of single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) with UV-excited sodium hypochlorite has previously been reported to be an efficient route for doping nanotubes with oxygen atoms. We have investigated how this reaction system is affected by pH level, dissolved O content, and radical scavengers and traps. Products were characterized with near-IR fluorescence, Raman, and XPS spectroscopy.

Fenton reaction technology has worked well in water and wastewater treatment; however it is often limited by such problems as continuous external supply of HO, slow Fe/Fe cycle rate, high energy requirements, and maintenance of low pH during operation. Herein, a novel self-sufficient heterogeneous Fenton system based on Fe/MoS was designed, fabricated, and optimized to effectively address these problems. The combined presence of Fe and sulfur vacancies sites in MoS played a pivotal role in the generation of HOvia two-step single-electron reduction process without any energy consumption.

pH changes occur during bodily lesions, presenting an opportunity for leveraging pH-responsive delivery systems as signals for a targeted response. This review explores the design and application of pH-responsive delivery systems based on natural polysaccharides for the controlled release of bioactives. The article examines the development of diverse delivery carriers, including nanoparticles, nanofibers, nanogels, core-shell carriers, hydrogels, emulsions as well as liposomes and their capacity to respond to pH variations, enabling the precise and targeted delivery of bioactives within the human body.

The structures and activities of enzymes are influenced by pH of the environment. Understanding and distinguishing the adaptation mechanisms of enzymes to extreme pH values is of great significance for elucidating the molecular mechanisms and promoting the industrial applications of enzymes. In this study, the ESM-2 protein language model was used to encode the secreted microbial proteins with the optimal performance above pH 9 and below pH 5, which yielded 47 725 high-pH protein sequences and 66 079 low-pH protein sequences, respectively.

PEGylated recombinant human granulocyte colony stimulating factor (pegfilgrastim) is used clinically to reduce the incidence and duration of severe neutropenia in patients who have received chemotherapy treatment. Pegfilgrastim products are administered by subcutaneous injection. We herein report that solutions of pegfilgrastim originator product Neulasta®, of a biosimilar product candidate, and also of the pegfilgrastim originator formulation buffer, induced aggregate formation when mixed in vitro with human plasma, and formation of large membranous aggregated structures when mixed with human blood.
