Reduction in cells quantity of thymus, lymphatic nodes, bone marrow and rosette formation cells, decrease in erythrocytes and leucocytes number, suppression of antibody production are seen in experimentally developed acute toxic hepatitis (ATH). Lacto Flor preparation was established to have potential properties to restore different immune and hematological systems disorders observed in mice with ATH.

Background: Exposure to ionizing radiation is inevitable due to its extensive use in industrial and medical applications. The search for effective and safe natural therapeutic agents as alternatives to chemical drugs is crucial to mitigate their side effects. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of citicoline as a standalone treatment or in combination with the anti-hepatotoxic drug silymarin in protecting against liver injury caused by γ-radiation in rats.

Background: Cocaine intoxication and abuse is a worldwide problem that can be the cause of numerous acute medical complications, including severe acute hepatitis. Although these cases are scarce, they are extremely serious and may lead to liver transplantation or death. Management of toxic hepatitis, once the causative agent has been discontinued, is essentially symptomatic, based on clinical and biological monitoring and prevention of complications related to acute hepatitis.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most prevalent form of primary liver cancer, notoriously refractory to conventional chemotherapy. Historically, sulfane sulfur-based compounds have been explored for the treatment of HCC, but their efficacy has been underwhelming. We recently reported a novel sulfane sulfur donor, PSCP, which exhibited improved chemical stability and structural malleability.

Developing nanomedicines with enhanced activity to scavenge reactive oxygen species (ROS) has emerged as a promising strategy for addressing ROS-associated diseases, such as drug-induced liver injury. However, designing nanozymes that not only remove ROS but also accelerate the repair of damaged liver cells remains challenging. Here, a two-pronged black phosphorus/Ceria nanozyme with mitochondria-targeting ability (TBP@CeO) is designed.

Background: Rho-associated kinases 1 and 2 (ROCK1 and ROCK2) regulate critical cell functions, including actomyosin contractility, apoptosis, and proliferation. Some studies suggest that ROCK inhibition may serve as a treatment for liver fibrosis. More investigation is needed to understand the role of hepatocyte ROCK signaling in vivo, especially in the context of profibrotic liver injury.
