The review has the objective to analyze applicability of short-radius centrifuges (SAC) in clinical practice. Attempts to treat with centrifuges were made already in the XVIIIth century by E. Darwin (1794) and then E. Horn (1818). Positive results were reported but without particulars of the therapeutic courses. Interest in this method was rekindled by initiation of investigations of the centrifuge as a means to counteract the negative effects of microgravity during manned flights to space. The all-round studies of SAC powers at the Institute for Biomedical Problems attested its efficiency in prevention and therapy of the human body deconditioning brought on by simulated microgravity (bed rest, water immersion), in the 80s the method was tested on patients affected with leg ischemi, and complicated reparation of bone fractures. Collaboration of IBMP investigators with clinical doctors (1987) and a series of dedicated investigations (2000) favoured the view that SAC can be successfully used to prevent and treat blood supply disturbances in legs.

Objective: To describe the characteristics of short arm deformity in patients with achondroplasia, and summarize the progress of its lenthening and reconstruction, so as to provide reference for clinical diagnosis and treatment.

Methods: The literature on the lenthening of upper limb with achondroplastic short arm deformity at home and abroad in recent years was reviewed, and the characteristics, extension methods, postoperative management, effectiveness evaluation, and related complications of short arm deformity were summarized.

Results: Achondroplastic short arm deformity affect the patient's daily perineal hygiene activities.

Objective: 3p deletion syndrome is a rare monosomal disease that encompasses deletions throughout the short arm of chromosome 3. It is often in the distal region (3p25-pter), but variations in breakpoints and a complex clinical manifestation exist, with congenital heart defects being considered rare. We present the first case of hypoplastic left heart syndrome and minor dysmorphic features associated with 3p- syndrome.

Background: Congenital cardiac defects are defined in cases with the deletion of the short arm of chromosome 5 and the duplication of the long arm of chromosome 4. Septal defects and patent ductus arteriosus are among the most common defects reported in the literature.
