Nitrate at 70 mM gave the highest biomass of Camptotheca acuminata in suspension culture in MS medium, but a NH4+/NO3- molar ratio of 5:1 (giving a total of 40 mM N) gave the maximum camptothecin yield. A two-stage flask culture system was established to improve culture efficiency; cell dry weight, camptothecin content and yield was increased by 30%, 280% and 340%, respectively when compared with those of control, reaching up to 36 g l(-1), 0.36 mg g(-1), and 12.8 mg l(-1), respectively.

Background: Cancer treatments are still limited by various challenges, such as off-target drug delivery, posttreatment inflammation, and the hypoxic conditions in the tumor microenvironment; thus, the development of effective therapeutics remains highly desirable. Exosomes are extracellular vesicles with a size of 30-200 nm that have been widely applied as drug carriers over the last decade. In this study, melanoma-derived exosomes were used to develop a perfluorocarbon (PFC) drug nanocarriers loaded with indocyanine green (ICG) and camptothecin (CPT) (ICFESs) for targeted cancer photochemotherapy.

Background: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) remains one of the most lethal malignancies, with limited treatment options yielding poor outcomes. This study aimed to evaluate the real-world clinical characteristics, treatment patterns, and outcomes of patients with locally advanced unresectable and de-novo metastatic PDAC in Saudi Arabia, providing regional data to compare with international benchmarks.
Methods: This is a retrospective, multicentre study involving 350 patients diagnosed with unresectable locally advanced or de-novo metastatic PDAC between January 2015 and November 2023.

In this study, we herein report the design, synthesis, and anticancer assessment of a series of new 4-substituted 5,6,7,8-tetrahydrobenzo[4,5]thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidines. The synthesis involved key intermediates such as the 2-aminoester derivative, which underwent a series of reactions to produce compounds 7a-7t. The optimized SAr reactions, utilizing microwave irradiation in DMF, led to high yields and efficient preparation of the desired compounds.

Design and development of amphiphilic polyesters based on bioresources are very important to cater to the ever-growing need for biodegradable polymers in biomedical applications. Here, we report structural engineering of enzyme-responsive amphiphilic polyesters based on l-amino acid bioresources and study their drug delivery aspects in the cancer cell line. For this purpose, an l-aspartic acid-based polyester platform is chosen, and two noncovalent forces such as hydrogen bonding and side-chain hydrophobic interactions are introduced to study their effect on the aqueous self-assembly of nanoparticles.
