Objective: The aim of this study was to highlight the outcome of complete hydatidiform mole (CHM) coexisting with a live co-twin.

Methods: We investigated four cases of such pregnancy by ultrasound, pathological, cytogenetic, and molecular techniques. Information on clinical follow-up and outcome was also available.

Results: All four pregnancies were spontaneous: two ended with the delivery of a live-born baby, while the other two were terminated because of signs of serious maternal pathology or intrauterine fetal death. The criteria for carrying on with the pregnancy are reviewed. The immediate outcome depends on the maternal criteria of serious pathology and on the likelihood of intrauterine fetal death. The risk of persistent trophoblastic disease (PTD) is the same as in the case of a singleton complete mole and also seems to be correlated with the zygosity mechanism identified by molecular analysis.

Conclusion: Hydatiform mole with a live co-twin fetus is a rare obstetric occurrence. In the case of a normal fetal karyotype, it is justifiable to await developments in the absence of maternal complications. However, treatment criteria still need improvement and diligent maternal follow-up is always warranted in the postpartum period.

: Despite the known impact of propofol and remifentanil on hemodynamics and patient outcomes, there is a lack of comprehensive quantitative analysis, particularly in surgical settings, considering the influence of noxious stimuli. The aim of this study was to develop a quantitative semi-mechanistic population model that characterized the time course changes in mean arterial pressure (MAP) and heart rate (HR) due to the effects of propofol, remifentanil, and different types of noxious stimulation related to the clinical routine. : Data from a prospective study were used; the study analyzed the effects of propofol and remifentanil general anesthesia on female patients in physical status of I-II according to the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA I-II) undergoing gynecology surgery.

Background/objectives: Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is associated with an increased risk of adverse musculoskeletal outcomes likely due to heightened chronic inflammation, oxidative stress, and advanced glycation end-products (AGE). Carnosine has been shown to have anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative, and anti-AGE properties. However, no clinical trials have examined the impact of carnosine on musculoskeletal health in adults with prediabetes or T2D.

Laboratory of Aquatic Biomedicine, Research Institute for Veterinary Science, College of Veterinary Medicine, Seoul National University, Seoul 08826, Republic of Korea.

Unlike other microbothriid monogenean infections in elasmobranchs, limited information is available on the biology and treatment of . As parasitic infection with was found in 21 juvenile blacktip reef sharks () at the Lotteworld aquarium in Seoul, South Korea, we aimed to investigate the anatomical features and treatment protocols for in this study. The parasites were sampled and fixed in 10% neutral-buffered formalin, and examined using light and scanning electron microscopy.

People who inject drugs (PWIDs) experience high rates of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, primarily due to needle sharing and limited healthcare access, resulting in a disproportionate disease burden within this population. This prospective study evaluated treatment outcomes in 432 adult patients with chronic hepatitis C (CHC) treated with direct-acting antivirals (DAAs) at the University Clinical Center of Serbia. Patients were categorized into two groups based on a history of drug addiction: PWIDs (163, 37.

Vaccination against hepatitis B virus (HBV) is the most cost-efficient measure to prevent infection. Still, vaccination coverage among adults in Central Asia, including Kyrgyzstan, remains suboptimal, and data about immune responses to HBV vaccination are lacking. HBV vaccination is given as three injections, whereby the second and third doses are given 1 and 6 months after the first (0-1-6 scheme).
