Veterinary intervention in zoological species can be complicated by species-specific social dynamics. African wild dogs are a pack species and removal or separation of an individual may disrupt established pack hierarchy resulting in conspecific aggression. Therefore, medical interventions that optimize a quick return to health are ideal to minimize the duration of absence from the pack.

Dynamic high-pressure microfluidization (DHPM) is an emerging treatment technology and has been widely used for the recovery of natural polysaccharides. The aim of the present contribution is to discuss the DHPM-assisted extraction and processing of polysaccharides from some foods and by-products by reviewing the instrument and working principle, procedures, key parameters, and effects of DHPM on the structures, food properties, and bioactivities of resulting polysaccharides. It was found that a DHPM instrument with Z-type chamber is preferable for extracting polysaccharides, and a DHPM with Y-type chamber is applicable for processing polysaccharides.

Purpose: Precise tumor excision is important in breast-conserving surgery (BCS). This study explores the safety and accuracy of fluorescence image-guided BCS (FIGS) using a lidocaine mucilage-ICG compound (L-ICG).
Methods: 54 patients who underwent BCS from August 2020 to September 2023 were enrolled.

Orthopaedic surgeons encounter tattoos in surgical fields with an increasing frequency and have the choice of avoiding, disregarding, bordering, or incorporating them into the surgical incisions. This article describes the history and the personal, social, and artistic value of tattoos; the physiology of tattoos and wound healing; the principles of incision planning for optimal cosmesis; and specific considerations when encountering tattoos in the surgical field. It subsequently describes cosmetic outcomes and tattoo-specific complications after surgery and provides a decision tree to help surgeons and patients decide the best approach for individual situations.

With the widespread application of lasers including ablative fractional resurfacing (AFR) with a 10,600 nm CO laser, PIH caused by lasers is becoming increasingly common.
