Five representatives of a novel type of di(hydroperoxy)alkane adducts of phosphine oxides have been synthesized and fully characterized, including their solubility in organic solvents. The phosphine oxide CyPO () has been used in combination with the corresponding aldehydes to create the adducts CyPO·(HOO)CHCH (), CyPO·(HOO)CHCHCH (), CyPO·(HOO)CH(CH)CH (), CyPO·(HOO)CH(CH)CH (), and CyPO·(HOO)CH(CH)CH (). All adducts crystallize easily and contain the peroxide and phosphine oxide hydrogen-bonded in 1:1 ratios.

To improve the application of carbon-fiber-reinforced polymers (CFRPs) in civil engineering, the long-term durability of CFRP anchorage systems has become a critical issue. Temperature fluctuations can significantly impact the bond performance between CFRPs and the load transfer medium (LTM), making it essential to understand the effects of temperature on the durability of CFRP anchorages. Therefore, this study investigates the influence of temperature on the durability of CFRP anchorages through aging tests on 30 epoxy-filled CFRP-bonded anchorage specimens, followed by pull-out tests.

Adding expansion agents to compensate for concrete shrinkage is a common crack resistance technique, but excessive expansion can also increase the porosity of concrete and reduce its strength. The addition of fibers can reduce expansion and improve the compactness of concrete. However, too little fiber will not be effective in inhibition, while too much fiber will cause aggregation.

In this review, we focus on the one-electron oxidation of DNA, which is a multipart event controlled by several competing factors. We will discuss the oxidation free energies of the four nucleobases and the electron detachment from DNA, influenced by specific interactions like hydrogen bonding and stacking interactions with neighboring sites in the double strand. The formation of a radical cation (hole) which can migrate through DNA (hole transport), depending on the sequence-specific effects and the allocation of the final oxidative damage, is also addressed.
