The association between blood cadmium levels and bone mineral density in U.S. adolescents aged 12-19 years.

Osteoporos Int

January 2025

Department of Endocrinology and Nutrition, The Second Affiliated Hospital, Hengyang Medical School , University of South China, Hengyang, 421001, Hunan, China.

Unlabelled: According to the multivariable adjusted models, there was an inverse association between B-Cd levels and BMD, which was particularly evident in the subgroup analyses of other Hispanic and female individuals in the adolescent population. Clinicians and policy-makers should thoroughly consider the genetic implications of B-Cd levels in relation to BMD during the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis.

Objective: To investigate the associations between blood cadmium (B-Cd) levels and bone mineral density (BMD) in adolescents.

Learning from Hindsight: Examining Autonomic, Inflammatory, and Endocrine Stress Biomarkers and Mental Health in Healthy Terrorism Survivors Many Years Later.

Assistant Professor, Department of Internal Medicine, UT Southwestern Medical Center, Statistician/Section Chief of Analytics, Research Service, VA North Texas HCS, Dallas, TexasUSA.

Introduction: Terrorism and trauma survivors often experience changes in biomarkers of autonomic, inflammatory and hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis assessed at various times. Research suggests interactions of these systems in chronic stress.

Study Objective: This unprecedented retrospective study explores long-term stress biomarkers in three systems in terrorism survivors.

Purpose: To analyze and interpret why some individuals are resilient to ELS while others are susceptible, resulting in psychiatric outcome later in life, with a focus on the role of DNAm of the gene as a mediating mechanism between ELS and the risk of psychiatric outcomes. We hypothesized that a high level of mental resilience to ELS, expressed as lower incidence of psychiatric outcomes, was associated with attenuated DNAm levels.

Materials And Methods: The first authors conducted a systematic search on PubMed to identify primary research studies.

The hippocampus's vulnerability to trauma-induced stress can lead to pathophysiological disturbances that precipitate the development of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The mechanisms of resilience that foster remission and mitigate the adverse effects of stress remain unknown. We analyzed the evolution of hippocampal morphology between 2016/2017 and 2018/2019, as well as the memory control mechanisms crucial for trauma resilience.

This study investigated muscle activation, shocks, and vibrations of the upper extremities during tennis serves between junior and adult tennis players. Thirty-five well-trained tennis players (15 juniors and 20 adults) performed 10 maximal successful tennis serves. Two triaxial accelerometers recorded the shock and vibration on the racket and the hand on the dominant side.
