Fibroelastolytic papulosis (FEP) is an acquired cutaneous disorder of elastin that encompasses both white fibrous papulosis of the neck (WFPN) and pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE)-like papillary dermal elastolysis (PDE). Although FEP is a benign acquired disorder, it shares overlapping clinical features with pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE), a genetic disorder with systemic manifestations. We report two cases of FEP, including the WFPN and PXE-like PDE variants, in elderly women.

The present report describes a case of fibroelastolytic papulosis with onset following herpes zoster infection.

Dermatology, St. Joseph Dermatopathology, Houston, USA.

Fibroelastolytic papulosis of the neck (FEPN) consists of two disorders: white fibrous papulosis of the neck (WFPN) and pseudoxanthoma elasticum-like papillary dermal elastolysis (PXE-PDE). The neck and supraclavicular areas are frequently involved; however, axillary involvement is significantly more rare, especially for white fibrous papulosis. Herein, we present an unusual case of white fibrous papulosis of the axillae, in addition to the neck, in a Caucasian woman.
