Cystic echinococcosis is endemic in certain parts of the world. The growth of the cyst is often slow, and the liver and lungs are the most frequently involved organs. Diagnosis is based on clinical signs and symptoms and epidemiological data, while ultrasonography is important for the classification of hydatid cysts. Although certain types of hydatid cysts are successfully treated by percutaneous aspiration, injection, and reaspiration, surgery remains the treatment of choice. We reviewed the current trends in the diagnosis and management of cystic echinococcosis, with special emphasis on hepatic and pulmonary involvement.

Background: Approval of proteasome inhibitors, immunomodulatory drugs, and anti-CD38 monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), such as daratumumab, has reshaped treatment patterns in patients with multiple myeloma (MM) in Japan. This retrospective study evaluated patient characteristics, treatment patterns, and trends in MM patients using Medical Data Vision, the largest electronic health records database in Japan with anonymous inpatient and outpatient health information.
Methods: Patients aged ≥18 years, with ≥2 records of an MM diagnostic and disease code and ≥1 record of MM treatment between 01 April 2008 and 30 June 2023 were included.

This study aims to estimate the additional discount attributed to the extension of indications (EoIs) to explore the potential correlation between spending and negotiated discounts and to find specific factors (determinants) that impact on discount.
Methods: The study focused on drugs approved in Italy between 2003 and 2017 with at least four therapeutic indications, including the first approved and EoIs, with follow-up extended until 2021 to acquire all the information on the negotiation process that has been completed.
