Identifying and managing pediatric sepsis is a major research focus, yet early detection and risk assessment remain challenging. In its early stages, sepsis symptoms often mimic those of mild infections or chronic conditions, complicating timely diagnosis. Although various early warning scores exist, their effectiveness is limited, particularly in prehospital settings where accurate, rapid assessment is crucial.

As a fundamental taxonomic group within vertebrates, fish represent an invaluable resource for investigating the mechanisms underlying sex determination and differentiation owing to their extensive geographical distribution and rich biodiversity. Within this biological cohort, the processes of sex determination and differentiation are intricately governed by both genetic factors and the complex interplay of environmental cues. While variations in external environmental factors, particularly temperature, can exert a modulatory influence on sex differentiation in fish to a limited degree, genetic factors remain the primary determinants of sexual traits.

Objectives: This study will assess the clinical outcomes and workflow efficiency after a transition in practice from the serial fluid method to the 2-bag method for pediatric DKA.
Methods: This was a retrospective chart review of pediatric DKA patients 18 years or younger, 1 year before and after the transition was conducted.

Although the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has ended, there are still many important lessons we can learn, as the pandemic profoundly affected every area of laboratory practice. During the pandemic, extensive changes to laboratory staffing had to be implemented, as many healthcare institutions required regular screening of all healthcare staff. Several studies examined the effectiveness of different screening regimens and concluded that repeated testing, even with lower sensitivity tests, could rival the performance of gold-standard RT-PCR testing in the detection of new cases.

Fractional flow reserve (FFR) has been well validated as a modality for evaluating myocardial ischemia, demonstrating the superiority of FFR-guided percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) over conventional angiography-guided PCI. As a result, the strategy for coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is shifting toward FFR guidance. However, the advantage of FFR-guided CABG over angiography-guided CABG remains unclear.
