Meningitis is the acute or chronic inflammation of the protective membranes, surrounding the brain and spinal cord, and this inflammatory process spreads throughout the subarachnoid space. The traditional drug delivery methods pose a disadvantage in limiting the capacity of crossing the blood-brain barrier (BBB) to reach the central nervous system (CNS). Hence, it is imperative to develop novel approaches that can overcome these constraints and offer efficient therapy for meningitis.

Background: Epidermoid cyst (EC) located completely within the pituitary infundibulum is a rare entity with only seven reported cases. In this study, we have described our experience with resection of intra-infundibular epidermoid cysts (IECs) and reviewed the existing literature highlighting its distinguishing features and operative nuances.
Methods: Three consecutive cases of IEC operated at our institute was retrospectively studied.

Streptococcus pneumoniae (SPN) is a significant pathogen causing pneumonia and meningitis, particularly in vulnerable populations like children and the elderly. Available pneumonia vaccines have limitations since they only cover particular serotypes and have high production costs. The emergence of antibiotic-resistant SPN strains further underscores the need for a new, cost-effective, broad-spectrum vaccine.

Background: Pediatric CNS infections have been identified as a global health problem, associated with an increased death rate and fatal consequences. Pentraxin 3 (PTX3) is an acute-phase mediator that increases in body fluids and plasma throughout inflammation. Our study was designed to assess the diagnostic and prognostic value of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) PTX3 levels in pediatric patients with different central nervous system (CNS) infections.

Brain tumors are among the most dangerous, due to their location in the organ that governs all life processes. Moreover, the high differentiation of these poses a challenge in diagnostics. Therefore, this study focused on the chemical differentiation of glioblastoma G4 (GBM) and two types of meningiomas (atypical - MAtyp and angiomatous - MAng) were done using Fourier Transform InfraRed (FTIR) spectroscopy, combined with statistical, multivariate, machine learning and rate of spectrum changes methods.
