Objective: Spinal en plaque meningiomas are rare and challenging lesions because of their tendency to induce spinal arachnoiditis. The surgical treatment of this type of meningioma is more complex than that of classic meningioma.
Methods: We report seven cases of spinal en plaque meningiomas and review all the cases reported in the literature accessible to us by a MEDLINE search.
Results: All patients underwent microsurgery. Complete tumor removal was achieved in three patients. Subtotal removal was performed in four patients. A permanent neurological worsening was observed in one patient.
Conclusion: Spinal meningiomas en plaque bear a prognosis poorer than that of classic meningiomas with regard to the possibility of a definitive surgical cure because recurrence or postoperative arachnoiditis occurs frequently. Total surgical removal should be attempted only when a clear plane of cleavage between tumor and arachnoid exists.

We present the case of a 36-year-old paraplegic woman with a history of spinal cord injury who developed a generalized blistering rash, later diagnosed as bullous pemphigoid (BP). During her hospitalization, she was treated with prednisone and rituximab infusions, transitioning to maintenance therapy with topical steroids, doxycycline, and nicotinamide. A year later, she presented with concerns about a BP flare on her feet.

Background: Non-invasive photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT), employing specific infrared light wavelengths to stimulate biological tissues, has recently gained attention for its application to treat neurological disorders. Here, we aimed to uncover the cellular targets of PBMT and assess its potential as a therapeutic intervention for multiple sclerosis (MS).
Methods: We applied daily dorsoventral PBMT in an experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) mouse model, which recapitulates key features of MS, and revealed a strong positive impact of PBMT on the sensorimotor deficits.

GABAergic signaling and GABA receptors play crucial roles in regulating the physiology of oligodendrocyte-lineage cells, including their proliferation, differentiation, and myelination. Therefore, they are promising targets for studying how spinal oligodendrocyte precursor cells (OPCs) respond to injuries and neurodegenerative diseases like multiple sclerosis. Taking advantage of the temporally controlled and cell-specific genetic downregulation of GABA receptors from OPCs, our investigation addresses their specific influence on OPC behavior in the gray and white matter of the mouse spinal cord.

Spinal cord meningiomas are typically benign, rare tumors that pose clinical challenges owing to their location and potential for spinal cord compression. Background: Currently, there are no available recommendations or guidelines on how to perform MRI monitoring in the management of neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) and myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD). The issue is to determine a valuable MRI monitoring protocol to be applied in the management of NMOSD and MOGAD, as previously proposed for the monitoring of multiple sclerosis.
Objectives: The objectives of this work are to establish proposals for a standardized and feasible MRI acquisition protocol, and to propose control time points for systematic MRI monitoring in the management of NMOSD and MOGAD.
